WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team heads to West Point, N.Y. to take on Army in a rematch from last season's non-conference bout in Hamden. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday from Christl Arena on ESPN+.
THE MATCHUP: vs. ARMY
- The Black Knights were picked to finish seventh in the Patriot League Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Army returns 10 letterwinners from the 2020-21 season including Alisa Fallon who was named to the Patriot League All-Conference Third Team and Lauren Lithgow who earned All-Rookie nods.
- The Black Knights enter the contest at 0-1 after opening the season with a 75-55 loss at Manhattan this past Saturday.
- Thursday will mark the seventh meeting between the Bobcats and Black Knights, with Quinnipiac holding a 4-2 record against Army.
- Despite the Bobcats leading the series, the Black Knights have earned victories in the previous two meetings.
- Army came away with a 51-50 victory over Quinnipiac inside of the People's United Center the last time they faced on Dec. 12, 2020.
- Amani Free led the Bobcats with 16 points off the bench, while Morris and DeWees added 11 points apiece in the loss.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Bobcats earned its first win of the 2021-22 campaign with a 79-50 victory on the road against CCSU this past Saturday.
- The 29-point win marked Quinnipiac's largest margin of victory since defeating Hartford 87-50 on Dec. 29, 2019.
- Mackenzie DeWees tallied game-highs of 19 points and 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season.
- Mikala Morris added 15 points and nine rebounds.
- Halee Smith (10 points) and Cat Almeida (8 points) both reached career-high benchmarks in the victory.
QUEEN OF THE RINGS
- The 2021-22 season marks the 27th year at the helm of the Bobcats' program for Tricia Fabbri.
- With 462 career victories, Fabbri stands alone as the all-time winningest coach in Quinnipiac women's basketball history.
- Fabbri led the 2020-21 Bobcats to a 13-8 mark overall and an 11-5 MAAC record in conference play, notching the program's tenth-straight winning season under her guidance.
- With the win over Fordham in 2020, Fabbri became the 111th coach in DI women's basketball history to reach 450 career wins and the 26th to do it at one program
- Fabbri's Bobcats reached the 20-win plateau in eight straight seasons (2011-2019)
- She has led Quinnipiac to four conference titles in the last eight seasons and earned five consecutive MAAC Regular Season titles (2015-19).

- There has been a lot of buzz around the Quinnipiac women's basketball program leading into the 2021-22 season.
Women's Hoops Tabbed First in Preseason MAAC Poll
- Facing lofty expectations, the Bobcats were selected No. 1 in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, earning 115 total votes and six first place votes.
ESPN: Women's college basketball 2021-22: Predictions for all 32 conferences
- Elsewhere in Connecticut, ESPN.com unanimously predicted Quinnipiac to win the MAAC Championship to earn a berth in its sixth NCAA Tournament.
Women's Hoops Ranked No. 16 in Mid-Major Top-25
- The Quinnipiac women's basketball team enters the 2021-22 season ranked No. 16 in the Women's Mid-Major Top 25 rankings, earning 292 points, as announced by the College Insider committee on Nov. 9.
MACK ATTACK
- The reigning MAAC Player of the Year, Mackenzie DeWees enjoyed a breakout junior campaign in 2020-21.
- The rising senior concluded last season ranked inside the top eight in the MAAC in points (6th), rebounds (6th), field goal percentage (1st), steals (4th) and assist-to-turnover ratio (7th).
- A native of Westminster, Md., DeWees tallied career-high averages in points (13.0), rebounds (7.7), steals (2.6), minutes (34.9) and field goals (5.1)
- Through the first two games of the season, DeWees leads the team in points (17.0), rebounds (9.0) and steals (5.5) per game.
- DeWees' 11 total steals ranks eighth most in the country, while her 5.5 steals per game tabs her seventh in the nation, respectively.
- She tallied her first double-double of the season against CCSU on Nov. 13, registering 19 points and 11 boards in the win.
- DeWees' added six steals in the victory to tie her single-game career-high output.
MORE MORRIS
- The reigning MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, Mikala Morris, was the leading rebounder in the conference (10.7), while also finishing in fifth in scoring (13.7).
- A defensive stalwart for the Bobcats, she ranked second in the conference in blocked shots, 10th in steals, and first in both offensive and defensive rebounds per game.
- A three-time MAAC Player of the Week, Morris also found herself inside the top-35 nationally in blocked shots (35th), blocks per game (33rd) and rebounds per game (25th)
- Through the first two games of the season, Morris has been the definition of consistent for Quinnipiac's offense
- Morris totaled 15 points and nine rebounds in the Bobcats opener at Fordham and mirrored that exact stat line the Quinnpiac's first win of the season at CCSU
ROSE KNOWS
- A native of Brick, N.J., Rose Caverly returns for her senior campaign after earning All-MAAC Third Team honors a season ago.
- Caverly made an instant impact in her first season in Hamden, averaging 10.4 points per game while making starts in all 21 games for the Bobcats.
- A two-time Player of the Week winner (MAAC and College Sports Madness), she ranked third in the MAAC in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0) and fifth in assists (4.8).
- Through two games, Caverly's 2.67 assist-to-turnover ratio is tops in the MAAC.
- Caverly led the Bobcats in scoring in the season-opener at Fordham with 16 points on 4-for-6 shooting from beyond the arc.
THAT 70s SHOW
- Since the start of the 2014-15 campaign the Bobcats are 99-36 (.733) in games where they score at least 70 points.
- During 2017-18 (20-0), 2016-17 (16-0), 2012-13 (18-0) and 2010-11 (8-0), the Bobcats compiled undefeated records in each respective season when reaching the 70-point scoring plateau.
JUST WIN BABY, WIN!!!!
- The People's United Center, home of the Quinnipiac Bobcats, has long been one of the most difficult arenas to play at in the country. Since the 2012-13 season, Quinnipiac owns a record of 102-21 (.829) in games played at home.
- In that same span, the Bobcats own a mark of 74-11 (.871) in conference play (NEC & MAAC) at home.
- Quinnipiac owns an 82-33 (.713) mark since November 22, 2017.
- Quinnipiac's extended home dominance is particularly impressive when looking at games against MAAC opponents, as the Bobcats stand with a mark of 65-11 (.855) at home in league games since joining the conference in 2013-14.
- The Bobcats are 58-8 (.878) at the People's United Center in conference games since the start of the 2014-15 campaign.
CLOSING TIME
- Quinnipiac has enjoyed a great deal of success over the past four seasons when building a first half lead. After starting 2016-17 with a mark of 2-0 when owning a halftime lead, the Bobcats saw one of their most impressive streaks in program history come to an end in a 71-68 loss at Temple.
- The undefeated streak, which lasted over the course of three seasons, came to an end at 46 straight wins for the Bobcats when holding a halftime lead. Quinnipiac went undefeated in both 2014-15 (24-0) and 2015-16 (19-0) and for the first two games of 2016-17 before suffering the defeat.
