HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University women's basketball Head Coach Roman Owen has announced the addition of Kourtni Stevenson as an Assistant Coach prior to the 2026-27 season. Stevenson comes to Hamden after serving in the same role at Boston University (2021-2026).
"This is a big day for Quinnipiac women's basketball and myself. Kourtni has the coaching and playing experience that will impact our student-athletes at a high level. She has been a part of my extended family for over 14 years, and I couldn't be more excited to welcome her and her family to Hamden." – Quinnipiac Women's Basketball Head Coach Roman Owen
In five years on Commonwealth Ave., Stevenson helped guide the Terriers to 84 victories, including the program's first-ever Patriot League regular season championship in 2022-23. In 2023-24, BU won 20 games for the second consecutive season and reached the Patriot League championship game for the second-straight year and third time in four seasons. Overall, 15 Terriers have earned All-Patriot League recognition during Stevenson's tenure.
Back in 2022-23 under Stevenson's guidance, BU notched 24 wins, set a program record, matched a conference mark with 17 Patriot League victories, and made its fifth-ever appearance in the WNIT. Individually, the Terriers have had 13 student-athletes garner All-Patriot League honors under Stevenson's guidance, including five First Team selections.
Stevenson arrived in Boston in June of 2021 after spending the previous seven years at the University of the Ozarks, where she served as an assistant coach, assistant director of enrollment management, and, most recently, as the head women's basketball coach.
Stevenson was a standout student-athlete during her playing career at Mid-America Christian University (Okla.), earning NAIA All-American honors as a senior after leading the conference in scoring (17.2) and ranking third in rebounding (8.2) during the 2012-13 season.
The Fayetteville, Arkansas, product additionally shone in the classroom as she was named to the Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete Team and graduated with a degree in marketing, and went on to complete her master's degree in sport administration from Arkansas State.
