HAMDEN, Conn. – The No. 15/15 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team is back home in ECAC Hockey play as the Bobcats host No. 5/7 Clarkson in another Top 15 matchup before hosting St. Lawrence Saturday to cap off the weekend.
Last Time Out
Quinnipiac extended its unbeaten streak to four games this past weekend with an overtime victory at Yale followed by an overtime tie at Brown. Odeen Tufto scored the winner at Yale Friday before Alex Whelan notched the game-tying goal at Brown.
Scouting Clarkson
The Golden Knights continue to be one of the nation's top teams as they head into the weekend with a 20-6-2 record and 13-3-0 mark in league play. Clarkson has won three straight games and five of its last six heading into the weekend. Haralds Egle and Josh Dunne are tied for the team lead with 12 goals while Egle is the only Golden Knight with 30 points. Devin Brosseau leads the team with 19 helpers while he is second with 27 points. Goaltender Frank Marotte has dominated between the pipes as he has a 1.67 GAA and .940 save percentage. Clarkson is one of the top teams on special teams in the nation with a power play at 23.9 percent and a penalty kill at 92.9 percent.

Despite dropping the last two matchups with the Golden Knights, including a 5-2 loss earlier this season in Potsdam, the Bobcats still own the all-time series with a 16-13-3 record in 32 meetings. Quinnipiac and Clarkson have split the season series in each of the last six seasons and look to continue the trend Friday night.
Scouting St. Lawrence
The Saints continue their struggles as they take an 18-game winless streak into the weekend, in search of its first win since Nov. 9 at Union. St. Lawrence is just 3-21-4 on the season and 1-14-1 in ECAC Hockey. St. Lawrence has come close to bucking the trend during its winless streak with three ties and a pair of overtime losses. Zach Risteau has been one of the bright spots as he leads the team with 21 points and 14 assists this season while his seven goals are tied with Keenan Suthers for the team lead. Bo Hanson is second on the team with 10 assists and 14 points. St. Lawrence continues to split time between its goaltenders but first year Francis Boisvert has started three of the last four games and has a 3.37 GAA and .901 save percentage this season. Daniel Mannella has the most minutes on the team and leads the way with a 2.70 GAA and .917 save percentage.

Quinnipiac took over the series lead from St. Lawrence with a 3-2 win back on Jan. 10 to improve its all-time record against the Saints at 16-15-5. The Bobcats have now won seven straight games against the Saints and are 7-2-1 against the Saints since the beginning of the 2016-17 season.

The Bobcats climbed up the national polls once again as the Bobcats found their way into USCHO.com's Top 15 and remained No. 15 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll. Quinnipiac has risen in the USCHO Poll in each of the past five weeks. Quinnipiac has also shot up to No. 14 in the Pairwise Rankings, putting the Bobcats in contention for an at-large berth in the 2019-20 NCAA Tournament.
Weekly Awards
Keith Petruzzelli earned ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week honors for a second straight week after dominating the crease against Yale and Brown. Petruzzelli posted a 1.92 GAA and .929 save percentage as the Bobcats beat Yale and tied Brown, with his marks good for the best among ECAC Hockey goaltenders with two starts last weekend.

The Bobcats enter the weekend as one of the hottest teams in the nation as they are 11-2-1 over the past 14 games with its .821 winning percentage good for the highest in the nation in that span. Quinnipiac rides a four-game unbeaten streak heading into the weekend and have won four of its last five games against nationally ranked opponents.

Quinnipiac is hosting a nationally ranked opponent for the for the fourth time this weekend and third straight home series. The Bobcats overall are 3-4 against nationally ranked opponents this season. Last time, Quinnipiac hosted then-No. 1 Cornell on Jan. 31 and shut out the Big Red, 5-0, in front of a sold-out crowd.

The Bobcats are also one of the top teams in the nation in their own building as they are 10-2-0 in 12 games with the .833 winning percentage good for the fifth-best in the nation. Quinnipiac is one of 10 teams to win at least 10 games in their own arena despite playing amongst the fewest home games in the nation, as they are one of two teams with 10 home wins in 12 or fewer home games.

Quinnipiac remains one of the top faceoff teams in the nation with a .551 faceoff percentage, good for third in the nation behind only Minnesota State (.558) and Western Michigan (.553). The Bobcats have three players ranked in the top 47 in the nation in faceoff percentage led by William Fällström in 18th at .589. Quinnipiac joins Minnesota State and UMass Lowell as the only teams in the nation with three players ranked in the top 47 in faceoffs.

Quinnipiac continues to be extremely disciplined as it is fourth in the nation among the last penalized times with 92 penalties, a total that is first among non-Ivy League teams. The Bobcats average the fewest penalties per game in the nation at 3.29, 0.17 ahead of Notre Dame who has the second fewest in the nation. In at least Division I program history, no Quinnipiac team has averaged fewer penalties or fewer penalty minutes per game than the 2019-20 squad.
