No. 10/11 Bobcats Down Providence, Advance to NCAA Regional Final

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team is moving on in the NCAA Tournament, as the third-seeded Bobcats knocked off Providence by a final score of 5-2 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in South Dakota on Thursday evening.
With the win, Quinnipiac will move on to take on the winner of top-seeded North Dakota and Merrimack on Saturday at a time to be announced.
After a scoreless first, the Bobcats jumped on Providence in the second with three goals, starting with an Elliott Groenewold rip from the point to make it 1-0.
Chris Pelosi and Antonin Verreault added goals in the final 5:22 of the frame, with Pelosi sneaking behind the defense on a breakaway before Verreault scored a goal off a rebound to make it 3-0 to the 'Cats.
The Friars scored two goals 3:50 apart to cut the deficit to one in the final frame. Ethan Wyttenbach and Graham Sward sealed the win over Providence with a pair of empty-netters as Quinnipiac defeated the Friars, 5-2.

STATS AND NOTES
- Victor Czerneckianair tied Travis St. Denis, Zach Metsa, Michael Lombardi, Ethan de Jong, TJ Friedmann and Desi Burgart with his sixth NCAA Tournament win as a Bobcat. He has won a tournament game in all but one year wearing a Quinnipiac uniform.
- With an empty-net tally, Ethan Wyttenbach ties Collin Graf and Brian Leitch's program record with 59 points to his name during this season.
- Antonin Verreault crossed the 40-point mark on the season, finishing the night with a goal and an assist.
- Dylan Silverstein made 23 saves in net, picking up his first NCAA Tournament victory.
- The five goals tie Quinnipiac's Division I program record for goals in an NCAA Tournament game, matching the mark set four times, most recently in the Frozen Four National Semifinal against Michigan on April 6, 2023.
- Czerneckianair also recorded his second career, multi-point outing in an NCAA Tournament. He has five points in eight career national tournament appearances.
- He also played his 156th career college hockey game, good for second amongst active players behind Denver's Rieger Lorenz (165 games played)
