Bobcats Face Terriers for Fourth Time in Program History, Look for First Win

HAMDEN, Conn. – The No. 6/7 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team is set for its penultimate non-conference game of the regular season Saturday night as the Bobcats are on the road to face the Boston University Terriers at 5 p.m. Saturday's puck drop was moved up two hours due to the impending snowstorm that will hit New England on Saturday night.
Last Time Out
Quinnipiac recorded a weekend split last time out, beating Dartmouth 5-1 to open the weekend before falling to Harvard, 2-1, in a well-played hockey game at Frank Perrotti Jr. Arena. With the win on Friday, the Bobcats have now recorded points in 15 straight league weekends.
Scouting Boston University
After a tough start to the season, the Terriers have returned to their winning ways as they are unbeaten in their last five games. Last time out, Boston University downed then No. 7/8 Providence, 4-3, on the road. The Terriers are led in points by defensemen Dante Fabbro with 17 and is the team leader with 13 assists. Senior Bobo Carpenter leads the team with 10 goals on the year and is second with 16 points. Boston University has four players with at least five goals through 19 games. Goaltender Jake Oettinger has play the bulk of the minutes between the pipes, going 8-8-3 with a 2.54 GAA and .924 save percentage along with one shutout.

Saturday marks the fourth all-time meeting between Quinnipiac and Boston University, with the Terriers taking all three matchups. Last season, the Terriers edged the Bobcats, 3-2, with just 41 seconds remaining in overtime in their Oct. 8, 2017 showdown. Quinnipiac and Boston University faced off for the first time back in the 2015-16 season.
National Polls
Quinnipiac continued to hold firm in the top 10 of the national polls, ranked No. 6 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll and No. 7 in the USCHO.com Division I Men's Poll. The Bobcats are ranked in the top 10 for a sixth consecutive week since moving back into the top 10.

Senior captain Chase Priskie has been nominated for the 2019 Hobey Baker Award, presented annually to the top player in the nation. Priskie is among the nation's best in numerous areas and highlights a strong core of players in the region like UMass' Cale Makar on the ballot. Priskie is one of 81 players nominated and one of 13 from ECAC Hockey
QU Hobey Baker History
Since the inception of the Hobey Baker Award in 1981, two Quinnipiac men's ice hockey players have reached the Top 10 and one reached the Hobey Hat Trick. Reid Cashman '07 became the first player in program history to be a top 10 finalist for the award in 2005. Following Cashman, former goaltender Eric Hartzell '13 also was a top 10 finalist before he reached the Hobey Baker Hat Trick as a top three finalist. That season, Quinnipiac reached the national championship game but fell to Yale.
Priskie Business
Priskie is on the cusp of one of the best seasons in program history as he is tied for first in the nation with eight power-play goals, 16 power-play points and five game-winning goals, fourth in the nation with 13 goals and sixth with 27 points. He ranks first in the nation among defensemen in each of those categories while being a part of a Quinnipiac defense that allows the second fewest goals per game in the nation at 1.82. With his two points on the weekend, Priskie recorded a career-high with 27 points this season.
Priskie Power
After recording the 100th point of his career on Dec. 29, Priskie continues to put home the points as he had a goal and an assist against Dartmouth. He now has 35 career goals, which is just three back from tying the program record for goals by a defensemen. Priskie is also tied for second in program history with 104 points and his 69 assists are fourth. Nationally, Priskie leads all defensemen with 104 career points.
DJ de Jong
Ethan de Jong has found his scoring groove as of late, recording goals in three consecutive games for the Bobcats, the longest streak of his career. de Jong scored a tap-in goal against Dartmouth before a late extra-attacker tally against Harvard to close out the weekend. de Jong is second in ECAC Hockey among freshmen with 17 points and third with seven goals while he leads with a +12 plus/minus rating.
Top Offensive Defense
Quinnipiac's defense continues to put up impressive numbers offensively, still leading the nation in nearly every offensive category with 28 goals, 62 assists, 90 points, 1.27 goals per game, 2.82 assists per game, 4.09 points per game, 13 power-play goals, 32 power-play assists and 45 power-play points, nine game-winning goals and 261 shots on goal. Quinnipiac defenders have nine more goals than the next closest defensive core and 25 more points than Lake Superior State at 65.
Top Rookie Scoring
As a class, the Quinnipiac freshmen are among the best in the nation in scoring, ranking second with 72 points and 30 goals scored while the Bobcats have the sole national lead averaging 1.36 goals per game and eight game-winning goals. The Bobcats freshmen are also second with 42 assists and 11.36 shots on goal per game and are third with 1.91 assists per game and 3.27 points per game.
