HANOVER, New Hampshire – National-ranked No. 1 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey erased a three-goal deficit, scoring six times in the third period, to defeat Dartmouth, 7-5, in an ECAC Hockey match-up at Thompson Arena in Hanover, New Hampshire. With the win, Quinnipiac extends its unbeaten streak to eight games to improve to 20-1-5 overall. In addition, the Bobcats remain undefeated in ECAC Hockey play, improving to 11-0-3 on the season.

Sam Anas (Potomac, Maryland) scored twice, including his NCAA leading fourth game-tying goal of the season, while also assisting on another goal. Bo Pieper (Roseville, Minnesota) scored the game-winner late in the third period, while Landon Smith (Greenwood Village, Colorado) had a goal and two assists.Travis St. Denis (Trail, British Columbia) and Devon Toews (Abbotsford, British Columbia) both had a goal and an assist and Tim Clifton (Matawan, New Jersey) had three assists in the game. Tanner MacMaster (Calgary, Alberta) added an empty-net goal in the closing seconds.

Quinnipiac had two opportunities in the first period when two possible goals were waved off. Travis St. Denis (Trail, British Columbia) appeared to score the game's first goal, but had it waved off for goalie interference. The Bobcats also pounced on a loose puck in the crease, with Tommy Schutt (Chanhassan, Minnesota) and Kevin McKernan (Millbury, Massachusetts) going to work on the puck under Dartmouth goalie Charles Grant's pads.

Sandwiched in-between both plays, Dartmouth's Carl Hesler scored the game's first goal when he converted on a rebound off the pad of Quinnipiac goalie Michael Garteig (Prince George, British Columbia). The Big Green's goal was the only blemish on a brilliant period by the Bobcats' goalie, who made diving save after diving save through the first 20 minutes.

Forty-one seconds into the second period, Jack Barre gave Dartmouth a 2-0 lead after he and Neiley played the puck back-and-forth to each other around the Bobcacts' goal. Moments later, St. Denis cut Dartmouth's lead in half with his 13^th goal of the season just under seven minutes into the period. Landon Smith (Greenwood Village, Colorado) gave the puck to Anas who skated between the face-off circles and dropped the puck to St. Denis on the opposite post for the back hand.

Just under nine minutes into the period, Barre picked up his second goal of the game after River Rymsha's rebound wentw to Neiley, who fed Barre to give Dartmouth a 3-1 lead. Less than a minute into the third period, John Ernsting made it 4-1 for Dartmouth when he snuck behind the Bobcats' defense found himself all alone before receiving a pass from Barre in front of Garteig.

Moments later, Quinnipiac converted on the power play when Tim Clifton (Matawan, New Jersey) made a play on a puck along the boards, pushing it behind the Dartmouth net. St. Denis picked up the puck on the opposite post and sent a pass to Landon Smith (Greenwood Village, Colorado) in the slot, who one-timed it past Grant to cut Dartmouth's lead to 4-2.

Dartmouth pushed its lead back to three goals when Brett Patterson one-timed a pass from Grant Opperman to give the Big Green a 5-2 lead. Quinnipiac responded quickly, with a pair of goals from Devon Toews (Abbotsford, British Columbia) and Anas to trim Dartmouth's lead to 5-4. Toews' shot came from the point, and re-directed off a defenseman's stick in front of Grant, while Anas' team-leading 16^th goal of the year came off a turnover in the Dartmouth zone. Anas picked up the loose pick in the face-off circle to the left of Grant and back-handed a shot through traffic.

With just under 11 minutes to play, Anas scored his second goal of the period on the power play to tie the game at 5-5. Tim Clifton centered a pass to Landon Smith in front of the Dartmouth goal before he dropped a pass to Anas on the opposite post for the one-timer.

With 4:44 to play, Bo Pieper (Roseville, Minnesota) scored his second goal of the season, and first since the Bobcats' season opener at Holy Cross on Oct. 9. Toews sent a shot on goal that Peiper tipped in front to give the Bobcats a 6-5 lead in the closing minutes of play.

Quinnipiac continues ECAC Hockey play when it hosts Cornell and Colgate at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center on Feb. 5-6. The Bobcats tilt against the Big Red on Friday night can be seen live on SNY.
