HAMDEN, Conn. – No. 10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey is set to raise the curtain on its 2025-26 campaign, welcoming Maine to M&T Bank Arena for a pair of contests.

Quinnipiac won an exhibition contest against No. 12 UConn over the weekend in shutout fashion, taking a 3-0 victory over their in-state foes. The Bobcats won 7-0 and 4-0 in Orono a season ago.

SCOUTING MAINE

Maine returns 17 players from last season, including scoring leaders Lily Fetch and Mikayla Boarder who are entering their junior campaigns.
Kendall Sumby led the defensive core in scoring with 10 points on the year, scoring four goals and dishing six assists.
Kiia Lahtinen pitched a pair of shutouts in February, earning National Rookie of the Month honors to finish her freshman campaign.

IN THE POLLS

The Bobcats have been ranked No. 10 nationally in each of the latest national polls and in the preseason (USCHO & USA Hockey).

PRESEASON ECAC STANDINGS

Cass Turner's squad was picked tied for fourth in the preseason coaches' poll.
Cornell, Colgate, and Clarkson were picked as the top three.

STRONG RETURNING GROUP

QU returns 55% of its scoring from a season ago, with their rising sophomore class accounting for over a third of that production.
ECAC All-Rookie Team selection Makayla Watson will be back on the blueline after notching 16 points a season ago.
Last season's leading scorer, Kahlen Lamarche, returns for her junior year in Hamden after two-straight 30+ point seasons.
Laurence Frenette, Tessa Holk, Emerson Jarvis, and Bryn Prier each return after having double digits points as well last season.

NEW FACES, SAME GOAL

The Bobcats welcome 11 newcomers this season including nine first year players and two transfers.
Calli Hogarth joins the Bobcats after three years as a goaltender at Merrimack, appearing 75 games for the warriors.
Alex Law transfers to Hamden from Boston University as junior, where she played in 58 games, scoring 16 points.
The first year class is made up of seven forwards, one defender, and one goalie.
Three first years, Ruby Rauk, Regan Berglund, and Ella Pasqua each hail from Minnesota.
QU adds four more Americans in Sophie Rousseau (North Carolina), Lincoln Brown (California), Ella Johnson (Alaska), and Casey Clausen (New York).
The class also features two international students, Peyton Cormier from Ontario, Canada and Jade Barbirati from Savoie, France.

QU REVEALS CAPTAINS

Graduate defender Mia Lopata returns for her fifth year in Hamden and will lead the Bobcats.
Lopata is joined by returners, Tessa Holk, Emerson Jarvis, Zoe Uens, and Tatum Blacker in the leadership group.

LAST YEAR (2024-25)

The Bobcats finished the season with 22 wins and finished 5th in the ECAC for the second straight season.
They defeated Harvard in the Opening Round of ECAC playoffs 2-0 before falling to 4th-seeded Clarkson in a three-game quarterfinal series.
Kendall Cooper was named to the All-ECAC Second Team for the third time in her career as well as the receiving the Wayne Dean Sportsmanship Award.
Cooper and goaltender Kaley Doyle were each named to the USCHO Third Team.
Makayla Watson returns for her second year after being named to the All-ECAC Rookie Team.

BOBCATS IN THE PWHL

QU saw four players get drafted in the 2025 PWHL Draft.
Kendall Cooper made history becoming the program's first-ever First Round PWHL Draft Pick, being selected 6th overall by the back-to-back Walter Cup Champion Minnesota Frost.
Maya Labad was selected in the fifth round by her hometown team, the Montreal Victoire.
Maddy Samoskevich is heading out west after being selected three picks after Labad to PWHL Vancouver.
Lastly, Kaley Doyle was picked first in the 6th round to the New York Sirens and was the fourth goalie of the board.
In addition to draft picks, QU also saw alum Meghan Turner '17 announced as General Manager of PWHL Seattle, a new expansion franchise for the league. She becomes the second Bobcat alum to lead the front office of a PWHL team, joining classmate Danielle Marmer '17.
