Women's Ice Hockey Announces 2026-27 Leadership Group

HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey program and head coach Cassandra Turner have announced the leadership group for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
Senior Brynne West and junior Makayla Watson will serve as the team's captains, while senior Kahlen Lamarche and junior Taylor Brueske have been named assistant captains. Together, they helped guide the Bobcats to their second ECAC Hockey Championship title in program history and fifth NCAA Tournament appearance. All four players will wear letters for the first time in their collegiate careers.
Brynne West - Captain
West has been named a captain after emerging as a leader within the program over the past three seasons. The senior has appeared in 84 career games, totaling six points, while continuing to play an important role on the Bobcats' blue line. West recorded her first collegiate goal and first multi-point game against Princeton on Nov. 20, 2025. Off the ice, she serves on the executive board of Q-COOR, Quinnipiac's student-athlete led community service organization.
Makayla Watson - Captain
Watson enters her junior season and has been a staple on the blue line since joining the squad in 2022. She has appeared in 74 games, totaling 42 points. The defender finished fifth on the team in scoring during the 2025-26 campaign with six goals and 20 assists while ranking among the team's top five in blocked shots in each of the last two seasons. Watson earned All-ECAC Second Team honors in 2025-26 after being named to the ECAC All-Rookie Team in 2024-25.
Kahlen Lamarche - Assistant Captain
A rising senior and dynamic offensive leader, Lamarche has been named an assistant captain following one of the most historic seasons in program history. She set Quinnipiac single-season records in goals (42) and points (64) during the 2025-26 season, finishing first in the NCAA in goals and fourth nationally in points. Lamarche has led the Bobcats in scoring in two of her three collegiate seasons and has recorded at least 33 points in every campaign. She also became the first player in program history to be named a Top-10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award while earning All-ECAC First Team and ACHA All-American Second Team honors.
Taylor Brueske - Assistant Captain
Brueske's consistency and growth on and off the ice earned her assistant captain honors heading into the new season. She has totaled 11 goals, eight assists, and 19 points across her career, while appearing in all 41 games in 2025-26 and recording 15 points with two multi-point performances.
