PROTEGE V. TEACHER
- It is year five of the Bill Riga vs. Rand Pecknold matchup after they spent 13 years together on the same bench, with the last seven being Riga's tenure as associate head coach.
- The Bobcats have won all four matchups, all by three goals with the last game being a 3-0 victory at Holy Cross on Nov. 2.
- Riga has added former Bobcat Kellen Jones to his staff for the 2025-26 season. Jones has the most points by a Bobcat against Holy Cross, totaling seven over his tenure.
MOTO MOTO
- After a 3-goal first period for Maine on Friday night, junior netminder Matej Marinov locked in en route to his MAC Goaltending ECAC Goalie of the Week honor.
- He stopped 29 of his final 30 shots against, including an 18-save shutout on Saturday to ensure an unbeaten weekend for the Bobcats. He also made a pair of standout stops in the shootout on Friday night, ending the comeback on a high that saw the Bobcats erase a 4-1 deficit.
WYTTER, WYTTER, CHICKEN DINNER
- Ethan Wyttenbach is off to a flying start for the Bobcats, adding two more goals to his name this weekend by scoring one in each contest. His four tallies are the second-most in the country amongst his class and the four-game goal streak is currently the longest active stretch in the nation.
- A goal on Tuesday night would give him a five-game goal streak, tying the longest stretch by a Bobcat first year in the Division I era (Sam Anas, 2013).
SEVENTH HEAVEN
- Quinnipiac poured in seven goals against Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon, rebounding from a one-goal effort the previous night against a stingy Alaska defense.
- It is the first time this season they have eclipsed the number, joining five other teams that have hit the mark this season.
- Over the last five years, the Bobcats have totaled seven or more goals in 16 games, the third-most in the country behind Boston University and Michigan during that span.
BREAKING THE ICE (AGAIN)
- Quinnipiac went back to its second IceBreaker Tournament this past weekend, falling to Alaska Fairbanks before knocking off Notre Dame at Mullett Arena, home of the Sun Devils.
- The Bobcats played in the 2021 version of the tournament, held at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass., tying Boston College before dropping the shootout in the semifinal contest. They shut out Northeastern to earn a split on the weekend.
- The annual Ice Breaker Tournament marks the traditional start to the college hockey season. Celebrating its 29th year in 2025-26, the Ice Breaker brings together four of the nation's top teams, typically from different conferences.
