RING THE BELL!
- Graduate captain Zach Metsa did the honors, as the Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team brought home its first Belpot championship, winning in a shootout over UMass after tying 2-2 in 65 minutes of action.
- Cristophe Tellier provided the winner in the shootout, scoring the lone goal as Yaniv Perets made two stops in the tiebreaker, while a third shot sailed over the crossbar. The Bobcats' earned a bid in the final with a 5-2 win over fellow ECAC foe Dartmouth before knocking off the Hockey East's Minutemen.
POWERED UP
- Collin Graf and Ethan de Jong have each been a focal point on the Bobcats' second-ranked power play in the ECAC. Both players are tied for the league lead and inside the Top 10 nationally in power play goals, tallying four each.
DRAW!
- Quinnipiac enters the weekend with the third-best percentage at the faceoff dot, winning 56.4 percent through the first two months of the season.
- This attack is led by Skyler Brind'Amour and a surging TJ Friedmann, with the former currently sitting 10th in the nation and atop the ECAC with 168 faceoff wins. Friedmann has surged in the circle, going 43-18 over the last four games, with three, double-figure win performances.
DROPPIN' DIMES
- First Year Sam Lipkin dished a career-high four assists on Saturday night, en route to the Bobcats' 4-0 victory over Yale. It is one of six such performances by a palyer in NCAA hockey this season and one of three by a first-year player (Karsen Dorwart, Michigan State).
- Lipkin is the first Bobcat first-year to reach that milestone since Matthew Peca recorded that number against Brown on Feb. 24, 2012. He also leads the team currently with seven helpers on the year.
J-QUILLAN
- Sophomore forward Jacob Quillan has taken off in his second season with the Bobcats, already besting his 2021-22 point output with 14 on the current campaign. He also has six goals on the year, more than double what he totaled a season ago.
- His multi-goal game against Cornell was the first of his collegiate career and he currently has four multi-point contests on the year with five for his career.
EXPERIENCE
- The Bobcats have one of the most experienced rosters in the country, with four players inside the Top 15 among active career leaders in appearances.
- Ethan de Jong currently sits at 157 appearances, good for second in the country, tied with Bowling Green's Alex Barber. The same squad's Taylor Schneider enters the weekend with 160 career appearances, the most in the country.
- For the Bobcats, Jacob Nordqvist (151), Zach Metsa (150) and Michael Lombardi (148) all sit inside the Top 15. They combine to make Quinnipiac the only school in the country to have four inside the Top 15 in appearances.
PICKED TO THREE-PEAT
- After securing its sixth in program history, the Bobcats were picked to three-peat and win the Cleary Cup once again, according to the ECAC Coaches' Poll, announced by the league office on Sept. 21.
- The squad received eight of a possible 12 first-place votes, securing 118 total points. They finished nine points ahead of second-place Harvard, who secured the other four selections to top the league.
- Captain Zach Metsa and sophomore goaltender Yaniv Perets were selected to the ECAC Men's Preseason All-League team as well.
- Metsa ranked second in the nation for assists by a defenseman in 2021-22, while Perets finished No. 1 nationally in goals-against average and shutouts.
