HAMDEN, Conn. – The No. 10/10 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team is on the road for its first full weekend road trip and the Bobcats will once again meet the No. 14/14 Clarkson Golden Knights in a three-game series beginning Friday at 5 p.m. at Cheel Arena in Potsdam.
Last Time Out
Quinnipiac had an impressive weekend last weekend as the Bobcats swept the Colgate Raiders with a pair of 3-0 shutout victories. Keith Petruzzelli recorded 38 saves over the two games while Ty Smilanic led the Bobcats with two goals on the week. Odeen Tufto led the Bobcats with three points, assisting half of the Bobcats goals.
Scouting Clarkson
The Golden Knights have struggled since starting the first three-game series with the Bobcats as they are 2-3 in the last five games. Last time out, the Golden Knights fell in overtime against St. Lawrence before coming away with a 2-1 victory at the Saints on Sunday. Alex Campbell still leads the team with 15 points while senior Zach Tsekos is on his heels at 14 points. Anthony Callin and Grant Cooper are tied for the team-lead with seven goals. Ethan Haider and Kris Oldham continue to split time between the pipes as Haider is 4-4-1 with a 2.40 GAA and .902 save percentage while Oldham is 4-2-0 with a 2.85 GAA and .905 save percentage.
All-Time vs. Clarkson
Quinnipiac is 18-15-3 all-time against Clarkson after going 2-1 with an overtime win and overtime loss in the three-game series from Jan. 8-10. The Bobcats snapped a four-game losing streak to the Golden Knights and have now won two consecutive games. Quinnipiac is eyeing its first three-game winning streak against Clarkson since the end of the 2012-13 season and beginning of the 2013-14 season.
Players of the Week
The Bobcats swept the ECAC Hockey Weekly Awards for the first time this season and had two players recognized for the fourth time in the last five weeks. It was also Quinnipiac's first weekly awards sweep since Oct. 27, 2015. Keith Petruzzelli earned both Player and Goaltender of the Week while Ty Smilanic was named the Rookie of the Week for a second straight week. Petruzzelli was the first Bobcat since Michael Garteig '16 to win both player and goaltender of the week on Dec. 30, 2014. Smilanic is the first Bobcat since Andrew Shortridge '20 at the end of the 2016-17 season to earn back-to-back rookie of the week honors.
Another Milestone
Rand Pecknold hit a special milestone on Sunday as he won the 542nd game of his career, tying legendary USA Hockey and Army West Point head coach Jack Riley on the all-time wins list. Pecknold and Riley are tied for 21st on the all-time wins list and 14th among coaches at a Division I institution. Pecknold's 542 wins are third among active Division I head coaches.
On a Roll
Keith Petruzzelli is in the midst of one of the greatest goaltending stretches in program history as he has recorded three consecutive shutouts. He is just the second goaltender in program history since Garteig to record three straight shutouts and his streak of 198:57 is the second-longest in program history only to Garteig. Petruzzelli is the 27th goaltender in NCAA Men's Ice Hockey history to record three straight shutouts.

Overall this season, Petruzzelli has been among the top goaltenders in the nation as he is tied for the national lead with 10 wins and ranks second with four shutouts. He also has played the most games with 15. Petruzzelli is eighth in the nation with a 1.77 GAA and also owns a .930 save percentage.
Lightning Effect
Odeen Tufto is in the midst of one of the most impressive seasons in program history as he takes a nation-leading 12-game point streak into this weekend's series at Clarkson. It is the longest point streak by a Bobcat since Sam Anas '16 had points in 16 straight games from Dec. 12, 2015 through Feb. 26, 2016. Tufto has points in 14 of 15 games so far this season.
TufTo Beat
Tufto recorded three assists to lead the Bobcats in points last weekend as he continues to lead the nation with 23 assists and 27 points. With two assists on Sunday, Tufto recorded the 30th multi-assist game of his career and 45th multi-point game. He is averaging just under two points per game. Tufto also leads the country's centers with a .643 faceoff win percentage.
Among the Best
Not only is Tufto's season accolades impressive, he has also shot up the record book for the Bobcats as he is now tied with Brian Herbert for third in program history with 113 assists. Tufto has also climbed quickly up the points ladder, tied with Reid Cashman '07 for eighth in program history and third in Division I program history with 148 points.
The Gold Standard
Ty Smilanic has had a stellar start to his Quinnipiac career as he picked up another two goals Sunday afternoon for his second career two-goal game. Smilanic became the third player in the nation to reach the 10-goal mark and is currently tied for second in the nation. Smilanic's 10 goals this season make him the 16th different first year since the Bobcats joined Division I in 1998-99.
