No. 10/10 Women's Ice Hockey Travels to No. 6/6 Princeton for ECAC Quarterfinals

Bobcats, Tigers to play in best-of-three game playoff series starting Friday
HAMDEN, Conn. - The No. 10/10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team finished the regular season as the seventh-place team in the ECAC standings and will face the two-seeded Princeton Tigers in the quarterfinal round. The teams will play in best-of-three game series starting Friday, Feb. 28 at Hobey Baker Rink.

Bobcats' Last Time Out
Quinnipiac hosted Yale and Brown in the final regular season games of the year. The Yale Bulldogs came to Hamden and defeated the Bobcats, 4-1. Senior Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout scored Quinnipiac's only goal in the Friday-night tilt from first-year Sadie Peart and senior Kati Tabin. Senior Abbie Ives recorded her 11th loss of the season with 28 saves.
The Bobcats came out the next day and scored a season-high nine goals against the Brown Bears in a 9-1 win. Seven different Bobcats scored in the win including, Peart, sophomore Zoe Boyd, juniors Renee Saltness, Taylor Girard and Grace Markey and Tabin and Coutu-Godbout. Coutu-Godbout recorded four points with one goal and three assists to lead the team. Tabin, Saltness and Girard all tallied three points each.
Bobcats Hold the No. 10 Spot
Quinnipiac remains ranked as the No. 10 team in both the USCHO Poll and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll after this past weekend's play. This is the third week in a row that the Bobcats are ranked in the national polls.
Playoff Push
Quinnipiac will play in the ECAC Quarterfinals as the seventh seed. The Bobcats face the Princeton Tigers, who finished as the second seed after the completion of the regular season. The Bobcats last played the Tigers in a playoff game during the 2016-17 season. Kate MacKenzie '19 scored a thrilling game-winning goal in the third overtime period in the first game of the 2016-17 playoff series, but Tigers took that series in three games. Quinnipiac holds an all-time playoff record of 5-2-0 against Princeton.
Scouting Princeton
The No. 6/6 Tigers hold a 22-5-1 overall record this season. The team finished the regular season with two wins against Brown and Yale, outscoring the Bears and Bulldogs, 10-2. The Tigers' last loss came against Clarkson, which was the same weekend Quinnipiac defeated Clarkson. The Tigers lost 2-1 to the Golden Knights, and Clarkson's Elizabeth Giguere scored both goals.
Last Time against the Tigers
Quinnipiac dropped both ECAC contests to the Tigers this season. The Bobcats met the Tigers for the first conference game on the season back in October and lost 4-2. In January of this year, Quinnipiac hosted Princeton on a Tuesday night and lost 3-2. The Bobcats are looking for the team's first win against Princeton since the 2017-18 season.
Scoring All Around
Twelve Bobcats had tallied double-digit point totals this season, which is the most for the team since the 2015-16 season. Six Bobcats have recorded career-best point totals this season, as well. Last weekend, seven different Bobcats scored through two games against Yale and Brown.
Peart on a Roll
First-year Sadie Peart leads all Quinnipiac first years with 21 points on 10 goals and 11 assists. Peart's 21 points is the most by a Quinnipiac first-year since Melissa Samoskevich tallied 32 points in her first season. The Grand, Rapids, Michigan native finished the regular season ranked fifth in freshmen scoring through 22 conference games played.
Reilly-Tabin Leading the D-Core
First-year Kate Reilly leads the Quinnipiac defensive core with 17 points on six goals and 11 assists. Senior Kati Tabin is tied with Reilly with 17 points on five goals and 12 assists. Reilly and Tabin are tied for seventh in defensemen scoring in the ECAC.
Bonsteel-Lundblad Linking
The duo of Brooke Bonsteel and Laura Lundblad have recorded 22 points combined through the last 12 games. Both Lundblad and Bonsteel have tallied career-high point totals this season – Lundblad has 14 on seven goals and seven assists and Bonsteel has five goals and 12 assists for 17 points.
Cassandra Turner Nears 100 Wins
Head coach Cass Turner earned her 98th career win as a head coach. She needs just three more wins to reach her 100th.
Lundblad with the Hatty
The Ada, Michigan native scored her first career hat trick against RPI on Saturday, Feb. 8. She tallied the game-winning goal in the second period on an unassisted break-away. She later netted the team's fourth and fifth goal of the day from junior Brooke Bonsteel (2a) and Peart. Lundblad earned the ECAC Player of the Week award for her five-weekend points.
Strong Starts Lead to Strong Finishes
The Bobcats are 16-3-1 this season when they score the first goal of any game. If Quinnipiac leads going into the third period, the team is 14-0 this season.
Non-Conference, Non-Stop
Quinnipiac completed the final non-conference games of the season after a two-game road series with No. 5/5 Ohio State Jan. 24-25. The Bobcats went 7-3-1 against non-conference opponents in 2019-20. The team outscored non-ECAC opponents 35-17 this season.
Dominant Defensive Core
Quinnipiac's defensive core has allowed 60 goals this season, averaging 1.76 goals against per game, which is ranked seventh in the country. Senior Kenzie Prater leads the team with 55 blocks (ties a career-high), followed by Reilly with 42.
