Bobcats head to Cambridge to take on the Crimson Friday
HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team has returned to Hamden from Northern Ireland with two wins after sweeping the Merrimack Warriors in the 2020 Friendship Series. The Bobcats will return to ECAC play with two road games against No. 9 Harvard and Dartmouth on Jan. 10-11.

Bobcats' Last Time Out
Quinnipiac opened 2020 with two games in Belfast, N. Ireland as a part of the 2020 Friendship Series. The Bobcats swept the Merrimack Warriors in the two games by a combined score of 7-3.
The first game of the 2020 Friendship Series was played on Saturday, Jan. 4 at SSE Arena, home of the Belfast Giants. First-year Kenzie Hauswirth scored in the first two minutes of the game to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Lexie Adzija added a second goal for Quinnipiac in the first from Courtney Vorster and Taylor House. Merrimack's Courtney Maud scored to open the second period, but first-year Sadie Peart extended the Bobcats' lead back to two goals five minutes later. The Warriors would add one other goal, and senior Kenzie Prater scored in the third period to secure a 4-2 Quinnipiac win. Prater tallied a goal and an assist, along with junior Brooke Bonsteel, who had two helpers of her own.
On Sunday, Jan. 5, the Bobcats and Warriors would faceoff for the second game of the 2020 Friendship Series. Junior Olivia Konigson scored her first collegiate goal in the opening period off a snipe from the blue line. Merrimack's Dominika Laskova tied the game with just over a minute to play in the first period. Laskova's goal would be the only Warrior goal of the game, as senior Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout and first-year Kate Reilly scored for the Bobcats in the third to secure the 3-1 win.
Scouting No. 9 Harvard
The Crimson will host the Bobcats will an undefeated ECAC record through nine games. Overall, Harvard is 10-4-0. The Crimson are coming off a 2-0 ECAC weekend against Union and RPI, outscoring the Dutchwomen and Engineers, 10-2. Dominique Petrie leads the Crimson with 24 points on 10 goals and 14 assists. Seven of Harvard's top scorers are in double-digit points. In the net for Harvard, sophomore Lindsay Reed has played in 11 games, recording a 7-4-0 record with a .914 save percentage and 2.92 goals against average.
Last Time Against the Crimson
The Bobcats hosted the Crimson on Nov. 9 and lost, 3-2 in overtime. The game went back-and-forth with goals from Coutu-Godbout and senior Kati Tabin. Tabin's goal in the third period tied the game 2-2 and sent it into overtime. Harvard's Anne Bloomer would score the game-winning goal in extra time.
Scouting Dartmouth
The Big Green hold a 5-7-3 overall record with a 2-4-3 ECAC record. Dartmouth is coming off a 1-0-1 weekend against Union and RPI. Gabby Billing leads the Big Green with 13 points on five goals and eight assists. Hannah Humphreys has played in 14 games in the net, recording a 4-7-3 record with a .903 save percentage and 2.52 goals against average.
Last Time Against the Big Green
The Bobcats tied the Big Green, 1-1, on Nov. 8. First-year Alexa Hoskin scored the lone goal in the overtime game for the Bobcats. The Bobcats outshot the Big Green, 34-17.
Friendship Series Recap
Quinnipiac is the first team in the history of the series to win both games. Adzija led the team with four points on the weekend with one goal and three assists. Her three helpers all came in the Bobcats' 3-1 win on Sunday, Jan. 5. Three first years scored in the two wins: Kenzie Hauswirth (5-2-7), Sadie Peart (5-6-11) and Kate Reilly (4-7-11).
Bobcats in the Net
Senior Abbie Ives and redshirt first-year Logan Angers split time during the Friendship Series. In the Bobcats' first win, Ives tallied 17 saves with two goals against. In the Bobcats' 3-1 win, Angers recorded 18 saves. Ives is 8-6-3 overall with a .926 save percentage in the ECAC and 1.80 goals against average, which are both ranked fourth in the ECAC.
Adzija at the Top
Sophomore Lexie Adzija finished 2019 with a bang. The sophomore tallied three points against Minnesota Duluth in the Bobcats' 4-2 win. She scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Colgate on a breakaway play. Adzija leads the team with 21 points on nine goals and 12 assists, which is tied for 8th-best in the conference. She has already surpassed her first year point total of 18 on the season.
Coutu-Godbout Cruising
Senior Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout has recorded 10 goals and four assists for 14 points this season, which is ranked second on the team. She is two points away from tying her career-high record of 16 points in one season. Her 10 goals are a season-best.
Non-Conference Dominance
The Bobcats have recorded a 7-1-1 record against non-conference opponents, including a 4-2 win against No. 10 Minnesota Duluth. The Bobcats' non-conference record is the best record for the team since the 2015-16 season (8-0-1). Quinnipiac has outscored non-conference opponents, 29-11.
Work, Work, Work
The Bobcats are 6-1-1 since Nov. 22. Quinnipiac's 4-2 win over No. 10 Minnesota Duluth was the team's first victory against a ranked opponent since Nov. 2017. Since Nov. 15, the Bobcats are 7-2-1 and have outscored opponents 30-17.
Dominant Defensive Core
Quinnipiac's defensive core has allowed 36 goals this season, averaging 1.71 goals against per game, which is ranked seventh in the country. Senior Kenzie Prater leads the team with 35 blocks, followed by Reilly with 31.
Out of the Box
The Bobcats hold the nation's second-best PIM with just 114 penalty minutes on the season with a 5.4 PIM/game average.
Special Teams
Quinnipiac's is successful on the penalty kill 88.9 percent of the time, which is ranked eighth in the country. On the power play, the Bobcats have converted on 14 of 68 attempts (20.6 percent), which is ranked 10th in the country.
