Women's Ice Hockey Hits the Road to Face Brown, Yale

ECAC play continues with day trips to play the Bears, Bulldogs
HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac women's ice hockey continues ECAC play against Brown and Yale on the road. The Bobcats will face the Bears in Providence, R.I., on Friday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. Quinnipiac will then make the short trip to New Haven to take on the Yale Bulldogs Saturday, Feb. 1.

Bobcats' Last Time Out
Quinnipiac hosted No. 6/6 Princeton for the team's first home game since Dec. 7. The Tigers secured an early lead after scoring three goals in the first period. Annie MacDonald, Maggie Connors and Claire Thompson all netted one goal each for Princeton. Junior Taylor Girard scored her second power play goal in four days in the third period to cut the Tigers' lead to two goals. With 0.3 seconds left, first-year Sadie Peart scored, but Princeton would hold on to the 3-2 lead and the win. Senior netminder Abbie Ives made 23 saves in the loss.
Quinnipiac vs Ohio State Recap
On Friday, Jan. 24, Quinnipiac was edged, 2-1, in a back-and-forth battle with the Buckeyes. Junior Brooke Bonsteel scored the Bobcats' lone goal in the second period after Ohio State jumped to a 2-0 lead, but the Bobcats could not tie the game. Senior netminder Abbie Ives made 39 saves, which is the second-highest number of saves for her this season. Both teams committed just one penalty each through 60 minutes of play.
The Bobcats and Buckeyes met for the second game of the series on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the OSU Ice Rink. Ohio State scored first, but junior Laura Lundblad tied the game before the final horn of the first period. Lundblad recovered the puck at the edge of the neutral zone off a poke check, skated back across the ice and back where she came from past Ohio State's Andrea Braendli. The Buckeyes would take a 3-1 lead at the start of the third period. Junior transfer Taylor Girard scored her first goal as a Bobcat in the third period on a power play to come within one goal of the Buckeyes. Ohio State would hold on to the one-goal lead to earn the second win of the weekend.
Scouting Brown
The Bears hold a 3-16-2 overall record and 2-11-1 conference record. Brown is coming off a two-game weekend series against Saint Anselm (NEWHA), earning a win and a tie against the Hawks. On Tuesday, Jan. 28, the Bears dropped a 3-1 game to Yale. Shay Maloney leads the Bears with 11 points on five goals and six assists. Calla Isaac has played 15 games in the net for Brown, recording a 3-10-0 record, .913 save percentage and 3.67 goals against average.
Last Time against the Bears
Quinnipiac has yet to play Brown this season. The Bobcats are on a 20-game win streak against the Bears and hold a 20-6-4 all-time record. During the 2018-19 season, Quinnipiac won both matchups by a combined score of 8-2, recording one shutout.
Scouting Yale
The Yale Bulldogs are on a six-game win streak coming into the weekend. Most recently, the Bulldogs defeated Brown twice, 3-1, and Union, 4-2. Claire Dalton leads the team with 22 points on eight goals and 14 assists. Two netminders have split time for Yale throughout the season – Gianna Meloni (6-4-0, .940 save percentage, 2.37 GAA) and Tera Hoffman (7-4-0, .902, 2.01 GAA).

Coutu-Godbout has recorded a team-high 12 goals and has 17 points on the season. The duo has a combined six power play goals this season with four game-winners. Adzija led the Bobcats' on the faceoff this past weekend against Ohio State, winning 64% of faceoffs through two games.
Bonsteel-Lundblad Linking
The duo of Brooke Bonsteel and Laura Lundblad have recorded 11 points combined through the last seven games. Bonsteel is fourth on the team in scoring with 13 points on five goals and eight assists. Lundblad has four goals and two assists for six points on the season and had a four-game point streak leading into the week.
Non-Conference, Non-Stop
Quinnipiac completed the final non-conference games of the season after a two-game road series with No. 5/5 Ohio State. The Bobcats went 7-3-1 against non-conference opponents in 2019-20. The team outscored non-ECAC opponents 35-17 this season.
