National-ranked No. 1/1 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey will host Brown on Friday, Feb. 26 at 7 PM with Senior Night Festivities scheduled for prior to the start of the game. On Saturday, Feb. 27, the Bobcats host No. 7/7 Yale for the 14th Annual Heroes Hat game at 7 PM.

Senior Night
Prior to the start of the Bobcats' ECAC Hockey tilt against Brown on Friday, Feb. 26, Quinnipiac Athletics will honor seniors Michael Garteig, Travis St. Denis, Soren Jonzzon, Alex Miner-Barron, Thomas Hilbrich and Jacob Meyers as part of Senior Night festivities. Quinnipiac men's ice hockey will also recognize student athletic trainer Rachel Leahy as well as student managers Alex Cates and Lewis Clarke.
The 14th Annual Heroes Hat
The 14th Anniversary of the Heroes Hat Championship is set for Saturday, Feb. 27, 2015 when Quinnipiac hosts Yale at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center at 7 p.m. The game will be available on SNY, where available.
The Heroes Hat was established in honor of those who risked or lost their lives following the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. It remembers Joseph Mascali (FDNY/Staten Island 5), father of Quinnipiac alumni Chris and Jenn Mascali.
The "Heroes Hat" is presented by Mrs. Lori Mascali and her daughters Katie '14 and Jennifer '02 and her son Chris '05, who lost their husband and father, Joseph, while he was attempting to save lives on September 11.

The Last Time Quinnipiac Played
- The Bobcats defeated RPI, 5-4 in overtime on Friday, Feb. 19, before playing to a 3-3 draw against Union on Saturday, Feb. 20. The Bobcats are currently 23-2-7 overall and 14-1-5 in ECAC Hockey.
- On Friday night, Quinnipiac men's ice hockey senior captain Soren Jonzzon (Mountain View, California) scored fifteen-seconds into overtime to give the national-ranked No. 1 Bobcats a thrilling 5-4 overtime win at No. 17 Renssealer.
- Tim Clifton (Matawan, New Jersey) set-up the play after forcing a turnover in the neutral zone and finding Jonzzon all alone on the opposite side of the ice. Clifton finished with a goal and two assists while Devon Toews (Abbotsford, British Columbia) scored the game-tying goal with 2:04 to play in regulation while also picking up an assist.
- Sam Anas (Potomac, Maryland) had two assists for the Bobcats for his team-leading 11th multiple-point game of the year.
- Travis St. Denis (Trail, British Columbia) and Kevin McKernan (Millbury, Massachusetts) also scored for the Bobcats.
- Against Union, St. Denis, Jonzzon and Connor Clifton(Matawan, New Jersey) all scored for the Bobcats while K.J. Tiefenwerth (Bellmore, New York) had two assists. Anas also picked up an assist to extend his scoring streak to 15 games in which he's accumulated 24 points on 12 goals and 12 assists. With the tie, coupled with Yale's 2-1 win against Clarkson, the Bobcats are four points ahead of the Bulldogs in the ECAC Hockey standings with two regular-season games remaining to play for the Cleary Cup.
The Playoff Picture
- Quinnipiac has clinched a bye for the first round of the ECAC Hockey Tournament and will host a best-of-three games quarterfinals series on Mar. 11-13.
- The Bobcats can win their second-straight Cleary Cup with a tie or a win against Brown on Friday, Feb. 26.
The Bobcats In The National Polls
- The Bobcats were announced as the No. 1 team in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll for the eighth straight week on Monday, Feb. 22, 2016. The Bobcats garnered 25 of the possible 34 first place votes.
- The Bobcats also retained the No. 1 in the latest USCHO.com Division I Poll, as announced on Monday, Feb. 22, 2016. The Bobcats received 32 first-place votes.
The Bobcats In The PairWise Ranking
- Quinnipiac enters its 18th consecutive week in the top spot in the PairWise Ranking.
- The PairWise Ranking is a system which attempts to mimic the method used by the NCAA Selection Committee to determine participants for the NCAA Division I men's hockey tournament. The PWR compares all teams by these criteria: record against common opponents, head-to-head competition, and the RPI.
- For each comparison won, a team receives one point. The final PWR ranking is based on the number of points (comparisons) won. Ties are settled by the RPI.
The Bobcats All-Time Against Brown
- Friday's night's game will be the 30th meeting between Quinnipiac and Brown with the Bobcats holding a 16-7-6 record in the all-time series.
- The Bobcats won the previous meeting against Brown on Dec. 5, 2015 by the score of 3-0 in Providence, Rhode Island.
- Quinnipiac is 6-1-3 in the last 10 meetings between the two teams at High Point Solutions Arena and own a record of 12-2-3 all-time on its home ice against the Bears.

Scouting The Brown Bears
- Brown enters the weekend with a record of 5-16-6 overall and 3-12-5 in ECAC Hockey.
- Senior Nick Lappin leads the Bears in goals (16) and points (32), including nine goals and 10 assists in 20 ECAC Hockey games. Lappin also leads Brown in active career goals (50) and points (105).
- Freshman Tommy Marchin checks-in just behind Lappin with 14 goals and 11 assists for 25 points while senior Mark Naclerio has totaled five goals and 16 assists for 21 points. Naclerio is also a 100-point scorer, registering 36 goals and 66 points in 125 career games for 102 points.
- Freshman Max Gottlieb leads Brown with 18 assists, to go along with two goals, to give the Bears four 20-point scorers to date.
- In goal, Tim Ernst is 3-10-5 with a 2.64 GAA and a .906 save percentage.
The Bobcats All-Time Against Yale
- Quinnipiac and Yale have met 25 times with the Bobcats owning a 14-6-5 record all-time against the Bulldogs.
- Quinnipiac and Yale faced-off earlier this season, with the Bobcats taking a 3-0 decision at Ingalls Rink on Dec. 4, 2015, to improve to 7-3-1 all-time on the Bulldogs' home ice.
- Quinnipiac is 6-2-4 all-time on its home ice, including a 6-1-4 record at High Point Solutions Arena and an 0-1-0 record at the Northford Ice Pavilion.

- Yale enters the weekend ranked seventh in the USCHO.com Division I Poll and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll, as well as the PairWise Rankings.
- The Bulldogs are 18-5-4 overall and 13-4-3 in ECAC Hockey for 29 points and second place in the league standings – just four points behind the Bobcats for first place.
- Yale is currently riding a seven-game win streak, second to Boston College's 14-game streak, and is 13-1-2 since Dec. 5, 2015.
- Freshman Joe Snively is the Bulldogs' point leader (26) and checks-in with 10 goals and 16 assists through the first 27 games of his collegiate career.
- Senior Stu Wilson sits at 23 points with a team-high 27 assists to go along with four goals.
- John Hayden has scored a team-leading 15 goals to date while assisting on seven more for 22 points.

The Bobcats' Streak
- The Bobcats opened the season with a 17-game unbeaten streak, which was the second-longest unbeaten streak in program history, after the Bobcats posted a 21-game (18-0-3) unbeaten streak in the 2012-13 season.
- Quinnipiac's season-opening streak was the longest in NCAA Division I men's ice hockey since Colorado College opened the 1995-96 at 15-0-3. It was also the sixth longest in NCAA Division I men's ice hockey since 1970.
- Since its loss to Boston University on Dec. 12 to end its season-opening streak, the Bobcats went on an 11-game unbeaten streak, compiling a 6-0-5 record, before falling to St. Lawrence on Friday, Feb. 12.

- With a pair of 3-0 wins at Yale and at Brown, and following a 1-0 win against UMass on Nov. 28, Quinnipias posted a shut-out in three straight games for the first time in the program's 41-year history.
- Quinnipiac has allowed just 17 goals after the second period across 32 games.

Michael Garteig
- Enters the weekend with a record of 23-2-7 with a 1.87 GAA and a .925 save percentage.
- In 20 ECAC Hockey games, Garteig is 14-1-5 with a 2.06 GAA and a .917 save percentage.
- For the year, Garteig is 11-1-4 in 16 home games this season with a 1.36 goals-against average and a .948 save percentage with five shutouts.
- On the road, Garteig is 11-1-3 with a .905 save percentage and a 2.29 GAA, while his 11 road wins lead all NCAA Division I goalies.
- In 12 non-conference games, Garteig is 9-1-2 with a 1.54 GAA and a .938 save percentage.

- On Thursday, Jan. 7, Michael Garteig recorded 25 saves in a 5-0 shutout against Union. Garteig's seventh clean sheet of the year is a program single-season record - passing his record of six he set as a sophomore in 2013-14.
- Garteig's shutout against Union made him the 24th goalie in NCAA Division I history to record seven shutouts in a single season. Only 11 goalies, entering 2015-16, have recorded eight or more in a season. Notre Dame's Jordan Pearce was the last one to do it, recording eight in 2009.
- Against Brown, Garteig ran his shutout streak to 194:49 minutes - the longest streak in program history, passing Jamie Holden's mark of 191:19 during the 2002-03 season. It was also the 25th longest streak in NCAA Division I men's ice hockey history.
- After blanking UMass, Yale and Brown in three-straight games, Garteig became just the 20th goalie in NCAA history to post three consecutive shutouts.
- In a 3-0 win at Yale, Gartieg won his 60th career game, breaking the program record of 59 held by JC Wells '01 and Jamie Holden '05.
- Garteig's 69 career wins rank first among all active goalies.
Garteig's Honors
- Garteig was honored by the Hockey Commissioners' Association as the NCAA Division I National Player of the Month for November. The announcement from the HCA came after Garteig was named ECAC Hockey's Goalie of the Month for the second-consecutive month.
- Garteig was named the ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Month for December. The Bobcats senior netminder was 4-1-0 with a .945 save percentage and a 1.25 goals-against average, leading all ECAC Hockey goaltenders in wins (4) and shutouts (2) in December.
- Garteig was named the ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week on Oct. 27.
- He was also named the ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Month for October.
- Garteig was named to the Mike Richter Award Watch List on Thursday, Oct. 8. The award is given annually to the top NCAA Division I goalie in the country.
Sam Anas
- Sam Anas currently leads Quinnipiac in goals (21) and points (42), while ranking among the national leaders in both categories.
- His 21 goals this season rank fifth among all NCAA Division I men's ice hockey student athletes while his 42 points rank sixth.
- Both figures also lead ECAC Hockey.
- With his second goal against Colgate on Feb 6, Anas became the first player in Quinnipiac men's ice hockey history to score 20 goals in three-consecutive seasons. Chris Cerrella is the only other player in school history to score 20 goals in a season three times, doing so in 1997-98 (32), 1999-2000 (28) and 2000-2001 (21).
- Anas' 66 career goals are tied with Ben Nelson '08 for the fourth-most in program history. Ahead of Anas on Quinnipiac's Division I list is Cerrella (67), Brandon Wong '10 (68) and all-time leader David Marshall '10 (73).
- On the all-time list, Cerrella – having played one season at the Division III level – leads all Quinnipiac players with 99 career goals, followed by Bill Veneris '82 (92), Todd Johnson '89 (91), Jim Hanscom '80 (83) and Richard Buckholz '87 (76) who slide in ahead of Marshall's 73.
- Anas is also one of four players in the country with 20 goals and 20 assists to date.
- Currently riding a team-leading 15-game point streak featuring 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points.
- Anas has tallied a point in 26 of Quinnipiac's first 32 games; Quinnipiac is 19-2-5 in those games.
- For his career, Anas has scored 66 goals and assisted on 58 more for 124 points in 108 career games.

- Against Harvard on Friday, Nov. 13, Anas became the 17th Quinnipiac player all-time and 11th player at the NCAA Division I level to score 50 goals, doing so in 87 games.
Travis St. Denis
- Travis St. Denis has scored 17 goals and assisted on a team-leading 19 more for 36 points for the season.
- St. Denis is one of 22 players in NCAA Division I men's ice hockey to total 36 or more points to date.
- Enters the weekend with an seven-game point streak in which he's totaled five goals and three assists for eight points.
- St. Denis sits at 55 goals and 57 assists for 112 points in 151 career games, and is one of 12 active players with 55 career goals and 55 career assists.
- St. Denis was the 18th player in Quinnipiac history and the 11th at the Division I level to reach 50 career goals.
- St. Denis is the fourth player in Quinnipiac's Division I history – along with Sam Anas, Ben Nelson and Chris Cerrella – to score 15 goals in three consecutive seasons.
- Friday night's game at RPI made St. Denis the 16th player in Quinnipiac history to play in 150 career games.
- In the Bobcats' 5-0 win against Union on Thursday, Jan. 7, Travis St. Denis scored twice and assisted on another goal to become the 38th player in Quinnipiac history and the 24th at the NCAA Division I level to reach 100 career points.
- In 14 home games, St. Denis leads Quinnipiac in goals (8), points (13) and power play goals (5).
- St. Denis is also the only player to score two goals in back-to-back games at High Point Solutions Arena this year. He also has a team-best four multiple-point games on the team's home ice.
Tim Clifton
- Tim Clifton has been a break-out star for the Bobcats this season, checking in with 15 goals and 18 assists for 33 points.
- Clifton entered the year with 12 goals and 15 assists in 77 career games and has more-than doubled those numbers in the span of 28 games this year.
- Clifton opened the season with a seven-game goal-scoring streak, which stood as the second longest in Quinnipiac history.
Landon Smith
- For the year, Smith has accumulated eight goals and a team-leading 21 assists for 29 points.
- Currently riding an eight-game point streak in which he's accumulated two goals and eight assists for 10 points.
- Smith peppered in the points against Dartmouth with one goal and two assists for his first three-point game of the season.
- Smith's three-point performance was also his sixth multiple-point game of the season, and has recorded a point in six of the last seven games.
- Landon Smith enjoyed a remarkable first season with the Bobcats in 2014-15, scoring 15 goals and assisting on 16 more for 31 points in his first year of college hockey.
- Smith started his sophomore year with a goal in the Bobcats' home opener, but then went nine straight games without a goal.
Devon Toews
- Junior Devon Toews has scored seven goals and assisted on 19 more for 26 points in 29 games this season.
- Toews 26 points are the most for a Quinnipiac defenseman since current Bobcats' associate head coach Reid Cashman accumulated 44 points as a senior in 2006-07.
- Toews is the sixth Quinnipiac defensemen in the program's Division I history to record 20 points in back-to-back seasons. The last Quinnipiac blue-liners to do was Cashman and Matt Sorteberg during the 2004-05 and 2005-06.
- Toews leads all ECAC Hockey defensemen in assists (19), points (26), points-per-game (0.90), power play assists (11) and power play points (12), as well as a +20.
- Toews saw a six-game point streak come to an end in the Bobcats' 3-3 tie at Union on Feb. 20. In the six games prior to the Bobcats' tilt against the Dutchmen, Toews had scored four goals and recorded eight assists for 12 points in that span.
- The Bobcats' defenseman was drafted by the New York Islanders in the fourth round of the 2014 NHL Draft after a freshman campaign that saw him total a goal and 16 assists.
Connor Clifton
- Bobcats junior defenseman Connor Clifton (Matawan, New Jersey) has blown past his 2014-15 point totals (0-5), accumulating six goals and 11 assists for 17 points in 29 games this year.
- His 16 points this season are also a career-high, surpassing his nine-point total (5g-4a) as a freshman in 2013-14.
- Clifton saw a six-game point streak – the longest of his career - fall with a scoreless showing against Harvard. Clifton scored an empty-net goal against Dartmouth and again against UConn to give him a point in eight of Quinnipiac's first 13 games.
- Clifton had an assist in a 3-2 win against Colgate on Friday, Nov. 13 before scoring the game-winner in overtime against Cornell in a 5-4 win in Ithaca, New York.
- Clifton was chosen in the 5th Round of the 2013 NHL Draft by the Phoenix Coyotes.
- He was the first Quinnipiac freshman to join the Bobcats directly from the prestigious U.S. National Developmental Team.
Chase Priskie
- Freshman defenseman Chase Priskie (Pembroke Pines, Florida) has passed out 19 assists, while also scoring twice, for 21 points through his first 32 career games.
- Priskie's 21 points are the most for a Quinnipiac freshman defenseman since Matt Sorteborg had 23 points – on three goals and 20 assists – in his first season in 2004-05. Matt Erhart's 27 assists and 31 points are both Quinnipiac freshmen defenseman records.
- Priskie leads all ECAC Hockey freshmen, and rank second among the league's defensemen behind Toews' 19 assists, in assists (19), games played (32), power play assists (8) and power play points (9).
- Priskie posted a three-assist outing against Cornell on Nov. 7, making him the first freshman with three assists since Sam Anas at Colgate on Nov. 1, 2013.
- The last Quinnipiac defenseman with three assists in a game was Zach Tolkinen against UMass on Nov. 30, 2013.
Derek Smith
- Derek Smith checks in with three goals and 11 assists from the blue line.
- Derek Smith leads all ECAC Hockey defensemen with a +18 plus/minus and is one of four defensemen to block 50 or more shots (56, 3rd) for the year.
- Smith provided the dramatics when he cleaned up a rebound and scored the game-winner in overtime against No. 4 Harvard at Madison Square Garden on Jan. 9.
- Smith found the back of the net in back-to-back games in the Bobcats' 6-0 and 4-3 wins against Princeton on Dec. 29-30.
- Smith totaled 13 assists in 36 games as a sophomore last year but sits second in the Bobcats' line-up with 11 helpers this season.
- Smith sits in the Bobcats' history books as the first player in program history to have scored on his first two shots on goal, which came in his second and third collegiate games.
Soren Jonzzon
- Scored in both games last weekend, including the game-winner just 15 seconds into overtime in a thrilling 5-4 victory at No. 17 Rensselaer on Friday, Feb. 19.
- Quinnipiac captain Soren Jonzzon (Mountain View, California) sparked the Bobcats comeback tie against Rensselaer on Jan. 21 with his fourth goal of the season.
- Quinnipiac captain Soren Jonzzon had an assist in both games against Princeton last week.
- Jonzzon had a strong weekend at Yale and Brown, totaling two assists against the Bulldogs while also scoring in the Bobcats' win at Brown.
- Jonzzon stands at seven goals and eight assists for 14 points this season, giving him 14 goals and 18 assists for 32 points for his career.
K.J. Tiefenwerth
- Quinnipiac junior K.J. Tiefenwerth is enjoying a break-out season, as he's tallied career-highs in goals (5), assists (9) and points (14).
