Thirty-seconds later, Smith and St. Denis played the puck back-and-forth the UMass defensive zone before feeding Anas in the slot. Anas fired on goal and then collected his rebound to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead.
With three minutes left in the period, it was Anas feeding Miner-Barron in the slot for the one-timer that Renyard stabbed away. Landon Smith was waiting on the doorstep to slap the rebound past Renyard and give the Bobcats a three-goal lead through the first period.

Keats picked up his own rebound and moved it to William Lagesson at the point for the one-timer. Lagesson's blast on goal was tipped by Marc Hetnik just above the creast past Garteig to put the Minutemen on the board.
