Nationally-ranked No. 17 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey will welcome Arizona State for a non-conference match-up at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. Quinnipiac enters the game at 2-0-0 while Arizona State - playing as an independent in its first season at NCAA Division I status - is 1-1-0 on the young season.

Scouting The Arizona State Sun Devils
- Arizona State is coming off a strong showing at the Kendall Hockey Classic in Anchorage, Alaska. After losing to Alaska Anchorage, 3-2 in overtime, in the first game of the tournament, the Sun Devils bounced back to defeat Alaska Fairbanks, 2-1.
- Ryan Belonger leads ASU in points (3) after scoring the game-winner in the Sun Devils 2-1 win against Alaska. Belonger also picked up two assists for the weekend.
- Jordan Masters and Joey Raats also picked up two assists for the weekend, while Jack Rowe, Liam Norris and Garrett Peterson scored for Arizona State.
- In goal, Ryland Pashovitz stopped 37-of-38 shots-on-goal in the Sun Devils 2-1 win against Fairbanks. Against Anchorage, Robert Levin also recorded 37 saves in ASU's loss on the previous night.
Quinnipiac Player Notes
Sam Anas
- The Bobcats' top returning goal-scorer picked up where he left off after an All-American season in 2014-15. Against Holy Cross on Friday, Oct. 9, Anas scored the first two goals of the season for the Bobcats before also picking up an assist on Tim Clifton's goal later in the game.
- Anas also picked up an assist in Saturday's home-opening win against Holy Cross. With two goals and two assists for four points, Anas ranks 10th nationally.
- Anas' opening-night two-goal performance is one of 25 among all NCAA Division I men's ice hockey players to date.
- Anas enters Thursday night's game against the Sun Devils with 47 goals and 39 assists for 86 points in 80 career games.
Tim Clifton
- Third-year Bobcat Tim Clifton had a big weekend for the Bobcats, scoring in both games against Holy Cross while also picking up an assist on Saturday night.
- In 79 career games, Clifton has totaled 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points.
Michael Garteig
- Senior goaltender Michael Garteig made 35 saves on the weekend against Holy Cross, good for a 2.51 GAA and .875 save percentage.
- Garteig was one of just three goaltenders in ECAC Hockey to go 2-0-0 over the weekend.
- Garteig was named to the Mike Richter Award Watch List on Thursday, Oct. 8. The award is given annually to the top NCAA Division I goalie in the country.
- Garteig enters Thursday night's game with a career record of 47-21-9 while also carrying a .912 save percentage and a 2.00 goals-against average.
- Garteig entered 2015-16 ranked 5th in career saves among active players (1,632); 1st in career wins among active players (46); 1st in career shutouts (11) among active players; 3rd in career goals-against (1.99) among active players.
Travis St. Denis
- Senior Travis St. Denis had two assists in the Bobcats 5-3 win at Holy Cross on Friday night before scoring his first goal of the season against the Crusaders on Saturday night at home.
- St. Denis currently stands at 39 goals and 40 assists for 79 points in 121 career games.
Landon Smith
- Landon Smith also had a goal and two assists on the weekend, scoring once and assisting on another goal on Friday night before picking up an assist on Saturday against Holy Cross.
- In 41 career games, through last weekend, Smith has scored 16 goals and assisted on 18 more for 38 career points.
Thomas Aldworth
- After going scoreless in his collegiate debut on Friday night against Holy Cross in Worcester, freshman Thomas Aldworth introduced himself to the High Point Solutions Arena crowd with a goal and two assists in his first home game.
- Aldworth suited-up for a team-leading 57 games with the Vernon Vipers of the BCHL in 2014-15, scoring 37 goals and tallying 19 assists for 56 points.
Chase Priskie
- Chase Priskie also made an immediate impression in the Bobcats' line-up, assisting on a goal on Friday and Saturday night.
- In 2014-15, Priskie compiled 20 points on six goals and 14 assists for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the BCHL.
Team Notes
In The Polls
- Quinnipiac was on the move in the USCHO.com Division I Poll after a 2-0-0 weekend against Holy Cross. The Bobcats jumped from 18th to 17th with the twin-bill sweep against the Crusaders.
Special Teams
- Quinnipiac was one of seven teams in the country to score four power play goals through the first weekend of the season and is currently tied for the national lead with 2.00 power-play goals per game. The Bobcats were 4-for-10 in two against Holy Cross for .400, good for fourth in the country.
- To date, Quinnipiac is one of 15 teams that have yet to allow a power play goal. Quinnipiac was a perfect 8-for-8 on the penalty kill.
- The Bobcats outshot Holy Cross by an average of 17 shots-per-game.
The Bobcats' Next Time On The Ice
- Quinnipiac will host the University of Maine on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. at High Point Solutions Arena as well as St. Cloud State on Oct. 23-24, with both games slated for a 7 p.m. start.
