Quinnipiac women's ice hockey assistant Coach Brent Hill finished his fifth season with the Bobcats, leading the power play and forwards.
In Hill's first several seasons in Hamden, the Bobcats saw their power play sitting in the top 10 consistently while also being among the top teams nationally in scoring. In the 2023-24 season QU finished fourth nationally in scoring offense at 3.62 goals per game.
Hill has helped several forwards notch their highest scoring seasons, including Shay Maloney who transferred to the Bobcats as a graduate student in 2022-23 and hit the 30-point mark for the first time in her career. Hill also played a part in helping Maddy Samoskevich make the transition from a defender to center in 2024-25, which led to the highest offensive production of her collegiate career. Both players ended up being PWHL Draft picks.
Hill will come to Hamden with an extensive resume in coaching and was most recently the program director and head coach of Selects Academy (U16 & U19) in Rochester, N.Y. As a head coach, Hill posted an overall record of 173-51 and was responsible for scheduling, practice planning, game management, scheduling and travel logistics.
"I am very excited and honored to have the opportunity to join the Quinnipiac women's ice hockey program. Coach Turner and her staff have built one of the top women's hockey programs in the country, and I am very eager to get started and help the team reach even new heights. With QU being the world-class academic and athletic institution that it is, there are no limits to the success our program can achieve. I am grateful to Director of Athletics Greg Amodio and Cassie Turner for this incredible opportunity."
At Selects Academy, Hill placed 29 student-athletes in NCAA Division I and III ice hockey programs over the last three seasons with 14 more athletes committed to compete at the collegiate level next season. Hill also developed 10 student-athletes who have competed for the Canadian, American, German and Icelandic national teams.
Before becoming the program director and head coach at Selects Academy, Hill served as the associate head coach at Merrimack College from 2013 to 2017. Hill was responsible for the recruitment of a full team to transition to the Division I level for the Warrior's inaugural season in Hockey East.
In addition to numerous years of coaching at the collegiate level, Hill also has coaching experience with USA Hockey. Hill coached the USA Hockey U18 Women's National Team at the 2015 IIHF Women's World Championships in Buffalo, N.Y. At Worlds, he served as the defense and penalty kill coach with the U18s and defeated Team Canada, coached by Turner and Quinnipiac assistant coach Amanda Alessi, in the championship game.
Hill is no stranger to ECAC Hockey, as he served as the RPI assistant coach from 2009 to 2013, leading the Engineers to an ECAC semifinal appearance in 2010.
In addition to his coaching experience, Hill has also been the owner of Hill Hockey LLC in Rochester since 2000. At Hill Hockey, Hill consults members of the hockey community on individual, small group and team coaching, skill development and power skating.
Hill graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration from Saint Michael's College in 2004. As a senior, he was awarded the Saint Michael's College Victor Lemieux Award for his loyalty and leadership within the athletic program.
