Baseball Picks Up Win in Series Finale Against Manhattan

Hamden, Conn. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats avoided the sweep, defeating the Manhattan Jaspers, 9-3, on Sunday afternoon to close out the series. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 7-13 overall and 2-4 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first two innings, the Bobcats were able to get on the board first in the third inning as Kyle Garbowski drew a bases-loaded walk, forcing Caden Williamson to come in to score.
The next inning, Quinnipiac added to their lead, scoring five runs in the inning. Cole Constable got the scoring started in the inning as he singled to second, allowing Peyton Vancas to cross the plate with the second run of the game. Later in the inning, James Marino cleared the bases with a triple to the right-center gap to make it a 5-0 lead for the Bobcats. Alex Irizarry tacked on another run for the Bobcats in the inning, singling through the right side to score Marino from third.
The Jaspers scored a run in the fourth and the sixth to make it a four-run game heading into the seventh inning.
The Bobcats responded with three straight runs, making it a 9-2 game. Caden Williamson singled home Cole Constable in the seventh inning to stretch the Quinnipiac lead to five. An inning later, Christian Smith scored on a Peyton Vancas sac fly, and then in the ninth inning, Jack Balcer singled home Williamson to make it a seven-run lead.
Manhattan got a run back in the bottom half of the ninth inning, but Matt Alduino escaped the jam to close out the win.

- Seven different Bobcats recorded hits in the series finale against Manhattan. Four of those seven Bobcats picked up multiple hits in the win.
- Caden Williamson picked up two more hits, raising his batting average to .346 in his first collegiate season.
- Williamson has recorded a hit in seven straight contests and has reached base safely in ten straight games.
- Kyle Garbowski picked up two hits after going hitless in the first two games against Manhattan.
