#7/7 Bobcats Prepared to Take on #1/1 Ohio State in NCAA Regional Final

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The No. 7/7 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team will face the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday, March 12 in the Columbus Regional Final game of the NCAA Tournament. The Bobcats are coming off a 4-0 shutout win over Syracuse in the semifinal regional game. The winner of the Quinnipiac-Ohio State game will advance to the 2022 Women's Frozen Four.

Last Time Out
The Bobcats met the Syracuse Orange in the semifinal game of the Columbus Regional on Thursday night. Quinnipiac took down Syracuse, 4-0, to earn to the team's first NCAA Tournament win in program history. The Bobcats and Orange remained tied at 0-0 until the second period. Taylor House opened the scoring, and tallied her fourth game-winning goal of the year, in the second period with a rebound goal. Sadie Peart later scored her 14th goal of the season to take the score to 2-0. Jess Schryver added the Bobcats' third goal on a tip-in, and Lexie Adzija scored the empty net goal with one minute and 13 seconds left to play. The Bobcats outshot the Orange, 30-16 and dominated the faceoff draws, winning 63%.
Scouting Ohio State
The Buckeyes earned the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament after defeating the Minnesota Gophers in the WCHA final in a 2-1 overtime win. Ohio State is 29-6 overall this season and are on a seven-game winning streak. Sophie Jaques leads the Buckeyes with 57 points this season on 20 goals and 37 assists. The Buckeyes have 12 players with double-digit points this season. Amanda Thiele has played in 21 games for the Buckeyes in the net, recording a 1.23 goals against average and .944 save percentage.
All-Time vs the Buckeyes
The Bobcats and Buckeyes have met five times since 2004. The Bobcats have never defeated Ohio State. The last time the two teams met was in Columbus on Jan. 24-25 in a two-game series. Both games were one-goal games.

The last time the Bobcats were in the NCAA Tournament came after the team won the ECAC Hockey Championship in a 1-0 win over Clarkson on March 6, 2016. Quinnipiac hosted the Golden Knights the following week in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament and lost 1-0. In 2014-15, Quinnipiac traveled to Harvard in the NCAA Tournament and lost 5-0.

Taylor House has tallied six points in the last four games, including two multi-point games. Her 25 points this season is a career-high. She has recorded three power play goals and four game-winning goals this year, including the game-winner against Syracuse in the NCAA Tournament.

Unstoppable in the Face-off Circle

Graduate student Corinne Schroder was named a finalist for the 2022 Women's Goalie of the Year award. Against Clarkson, Schroeder made 75 saves total to lead the Bobcats in two historic victories over the Golden Knights in the ECAC Hockey quarterfinal games. She is ranked sixth in the country with a 1.36 goals against average and third with a .951 save percentage. Her 4-0 shutout victory over Syracuse was her sixth shutout this season.
Point Picture
The Bobcats have seven skaters with over 20 points this season. Olivia Mobley leads the team with 33 points after tallying two points against the Orange. Lexie Adzija is third on the team with 28 points, which is two off from tying her career high. In the sophomore class, Kendall Cooper, Nina Steigauf, Sophie Urban, Maddy Samoskevich and Mobley have all recorded career-high point totals. Taylor House also has notched a career-high 25 points on 15 goals and 10 assists.

Historic Quarterfinal
The Bobcats took down Clarkson in the ECAC Hockey quarterfinal, outscoring the Golden Knights, 9-1 through two games. This was the team's first quarterfinal series sweep since 2015-16 when the Bobcats defeated St. Lawrence twice in the quarterfinals. It was also the first time the team shutout Clarkson in any game since 2015-16 in the ECAC Championship game when Quinnipiac won 1-0. Both the 5-1 and 4-0 victories were the highest margins of victory against Clarkson in program history.

Adzija the All-Star
Lexie Adzija was awarded the prestigious Mandi Schwartz Student-Athlete of the Year award on Saturday, Feb. 19 after the conclusion of the regular season. She is ranked third on the team with 26 points on seven goals and 19 assists. Adzija is the fourth Bobcat to win the award; Kenzie Lancaster '19, Kristen Tamberg '16 and Chelsea Laden '15 also won.
