BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following the Thanksgiving holiday, Quinnipiac women's basketball continues its non-conference slate at the Christmas City Classic, hosted by Lehigh. The Bobcats will open the weekend with a contest against Kent State at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and will follow with a game vs. either Lehigh or Southern Illinois on Sunday.
THE MATCHUP: vs. KENT STATE
- The Golden Flashes enter the weekend at 2-2 on the season
- The Golden Flashes fell short on the road at Arkansas 80-59, before bouncing back in its last time out this past Sunday with a 59-56 road win over Oklahoma State
- Katie Shumate leads the Golden Flashes in scoring (16.5 ppg), steals (1.3 spg) and blocks (1.0 bpg), while ranking second in rebounding (5.5 rpg)
- In Kent State's victory over Oklahoma State, Shumate totaled team-high's of 23 points and three steals
- Lindsey Thall ranks second on the team in scoring at 10.8 points per game
- After the solid start to their season, the Golden Flashes enter the weekend ranked No. 17 in the CollegeInsider.com Top-25 Mid Major Poll
- Saturday's contest against Kent State will mark the first ever contest between the Bobcats and the Golden Flashes in the programs' respective Div. I histories
- Sunday's contest could mark the fourth contest between the two programs in their Div. I history
- Quinnipiac leads the all-time series 2-1
- The Bobcats have claimed victories in each of the last two contests
- The last time the two sides squared off, Quinnipiac came away with a 75-66 victory over Lehigh in Bethlehem on January 4, 2003
- The Mountain Hawks enter the weekend at 2-3, falling short in its last contest on the road at Drexel, 84-61, this past Tuesday
- A team that likes to see the ball through the net, Lehigh is averaging 78 points per game, while shooting 45.8% from the floor and 39.2% from beyond the arc
- The Mountain Hawks are led in scoring by Frannie Hottinger and Mackenzie Kramer, who average 19.6 points per game apiece
- Sunday's contest could mark the first time that the Bobcats run into former assistant coach Kaitlyn Cresencia on the opposite sidelines
- Coach Cresencia served as an assistant coach for the Bobcats during the 2021-22 season, aiding Quinnipiac to 21 victories

- Cresencia also helped lead the Bobcats to a victory in the WNIT, Quinnipiac's first win in a national postseason tournament since 2018

- The Salukis enter the weekend at 0-4 on the young season, falling in their most recent contest at home against Memphis, 89-76, this past Tuesday
- Ashley Jones leads Southern Illinois in scoring at 11.3 points per game, while Tyranny Brown (9.8 ppg) and Promise Taylor (9.3 ppg) narrowly trail
- Despite 14 points from Mikala Morris, Quinnipiac women's basketball fell short on the road at No. 11 Indiana, 92-55 inside of Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Nov. 20
- Along with her 16 points, Morris contributed five assists and two rebounds in the loss

- DeWees was also a unanimous preseason All-MAAC First Team selection
- Last season DeWees garnered All-MAAC First Team honors for the second time in her career, becoming the second player in program-history to do so behind Aryn McClure ('19)
- Averaged 13.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 3.1 assists per game in 2021-22
- Was one of only two players in the country to average at least 13.0 points, 7.0 rebounds. 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game last season
- DeWees' 105 total steals and 3.4 steals per game places her fourth in the nation in both categories, respectively
- She's tallied five or more steals in nine of Quinnipiac's games, most recently tallying five thefts against Marist on Feb. 24
- Tallied 106 steals and averaged 3.31 steals per game, which ranked fourth and fifth in the nation
- DeWees was just the second player in Quinnipiac's Div. I history to tally 100+ steals in a season, becoming the first to do so since Felicia Barron ('13) totaled 119 thefts during the 2012-13 campaign
- DeWees has totaled 237 career steals, ranking third in the program's Div. I history
- DeWees became the 16th player in Quinnipiac's Div. I history to reach 1,000 career points on March 9, 2022 and currently sits in 16th with 1,039 points
- Graduate student Rose Caverly opted to return to Quinnipiac for a fifth season over the summer
- Caverly's 16 assists ranks seventh in the MAAC, while her 4.0 assists per game slots her in fifth in the conference
- Her 1.8 assist-to-turnover ratio is tied for second in the MAAC
- Entering the 2022-23 campaign, Caverly was named to the preseason All-MAAC Third Team
- She averaged 8.8 points, 3.8 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game in 2021-22 and shot 35.8% from beyond the arc and 79.7% from the charity stripe

- Caverly's 1.9 assist-to-turnover ratio ranked second in the MAAC last season
- She totaled 126 assists in 2021-22, becoming the first player in program-history to tally at least 100 assists in back-to-back seasons since Gillian "Boo" Abshire did so for four consecutive seasons from 2011-2015
- Caverly averaged 22.0 points per game, while shooting 48.0% from the field and 56.3% from beyond the arc in two games during the 2022 WNIT
- She scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds in win over URI in WNIT opening round on March 18, 2022

- Morris is averaging 10.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game through four contests
- Her 6.0 rebounds per game is tied for ninth in the conference
- Morris led the Bobcats with 16 points and five assists in a loss at No. 11 Indiana on Nov. 20
- In the home-opener against CCSU on Nov. 12, Morris totaled 16 points, four rebounds, three steals and a block in the victory
- Last season she averaged 11.7 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.6 blocks per game en route to earning All-MAAC Second Team honors
- The league's leader in double-doubles (13), Morris also finished the season ranked 9th in the MAAC in total points (386), first in blocked shots (53), and second in rebounds (315)
- With 315 rebounds, Morris became just the fourth player in the program's Div. I history to grab 300+ rebounds in a season

- Through the first four games of the season, Cur'Tiera Haywood leads the Bobcats in scoring at 11.8 ppg

- Haywood tallied 20 points, six rebounds, and four assists in a win over CCSU on Nov. 12
- Last season Haywood appeared in 27 games and averaged a career-high 8.1 points per game

- Jackie Grisdale returns for her sophomore campaign after averaging 4.7 points and 1.6 rebounds per game en route to earning MAAC All-Rookie Team honors in 2021-22
- Grisdale is averaging 9.3 points per game, while shooting 50.0% from the floor
- She tallied 10 points in road loss at No. 11 Indiana on Nov. 20
- Grisdale led the Bobcats with 13 points in the win over Hartford on Nov. 14

- Earning MAAC All-Rookie Team honors, Jackie Grisdale became the first player in program history to earn all-conference honors as a walk-on
- Grisdale emerged as a consistent threat for the Bobcats, as she averaged 7.1 points per game, while shooting 45.8% from the field, 41.3% from three and 92.3% from the charity stripe over her last 16 regular season games played in 2021-22
- Grisdale scored a career-high 26 points off the bench in QU's 26-point comeback victory over Niagara on Jan. 29
- Grisdale scored 23 of her 26 points in the second half
- She knocked down six three-pointers in the contest, tying the single-game program record
- Graduate student Mary Baskerville announced that she would be transferring from Providence to Quinnipiac this past summer
- Baskerville is averaging 8.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game through four games with Quinnipiac
- She is shooting an efficient 87.5% (14-for-16) from the floor
- Baskerville totaled 11 points on 5-for-6 shooting and added six rebounds in 12 minutes against Hartford on Nov. 14

- It was a total team effort as the Quinnipiac women's basketball team set a new program Div. I program-record for margin of victory, downing Hartford by 55 points in an 85-30 home victory on Nov. 18 inside of M&T Bank Arena.
- Quinnipiac received a balanced scoring attack as it had five student-athletes finish in double-figures, as Cur'Tiera Haywood and Jackie Grisdale led all scorers with 13 points apiece
- Mary Baskerville added 11 points off the bench, while Ella O'Donnell and Rose Caso totaled 10 points apiece as reserves as well
- The 55-point win marked the largest margin of victory in Quinnipiac's Div. I history

- The Quinnipiac women's basketball team came in at No. 12 this week in the Women's Mid-Major Top 25 rankings for the second consecutive week, earning 401 points, as announced by the College Insider committee
- The only team in the MAAC ranked in the poll, Quinnipiac's schedule has the Bobcats set to face two schools who are ranked or receiving votes in the College Insider preseason mid-major poll

- M&T Bank Arena, home of the Quinnipiac Bobcats, has long been one of the most difficult arenas to play at in the country. Since the 2012-13 season, Quinnipiac owns a record of 115-24 (.827) in games played at home
- In that same span, the Bobcats own a mark of 83-13 (.865) in conference play (NEC & MAAC) at home
- Quinnipiac owns a 104-46 (.693) mark since November 22, 2017
- The Bobcats stand with a mark of 74-13 (.850) at home in league games since joining the MAAC in 2013-14

- Quinnipiac has enjoyed a great deal of success over the past four seasons when building a first half lead. After starting 2016-17 with a mark of 2-0 when owning a halftime lead, the Bobcats saw one of their most impressive streaks in program history come to an end in a 71-68 loss at Temple
- The undefeated streak, which lasted over the course of three seasons, came to an end at 46 straight wins for the Bobcats when holding a halftime lead.
- Quinnipiac went undefeated in both 2014-15 (24-0) and 2015-16 (19-0) and for the first two games of 2016-17 before suffering the defeat.
- Overall, the Bobcats own a mark of 140-12 (.921) since the start of 2014-15 in games in which Quinnipiac leads at the half
