#7/6 Bobcats Take on #9/9 Colgate & Cornell This Weekend

HAMDEN, Conn. - The No. 7/6 Quinnipiac Bobcats are set to host two ECAC Hockey contests at the People's United Center this weekend. No. 9/9 Colgate and Cornell will come to Hamden. The Bobcats and Raiders will face off on Friday night, and the Big Red come to play Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
Quinnipiac will also be hosting the team's annual "Do It For Daron" Mental Health Awareness Game on Saturday. The Bobcats use this game to spread awareness about mental health and raise money for mental health initiatives here at Quinnipiac. Click here to donate.

Last Time Out
The Bobcats hosted Harvard and Dartmouth last weekend, dropping one game to Harvard and defeating Dartmouth, 3-1. Harvard came out and struck first, scoring two goals in the first and second periods to take a 2-0 lead. The Bobcats got on the board in the third period with a goal from Sadie Peart. The Crimson later scored a power play goal to take a 3-1 lead. Zoe Boyd scored an extra attacker goal late in the third but could not complete the comeback and lost 3-2.
The following day, Quinnipiac beat Dartmouth, 3-1. Maya Labad scored first for Quinnipiac to give the home team a 1-0 lead. Dartmouth's Laura Fuoco scored the equalizing goal later in the first period. Olivia Konigson netted her first goal of the season to put Quinnipiac up 2-1. Late in the second, Olivia Mobley tallied a short-handed goal to give Quinnipiac a 3-1 lead and seal the win.
Scouting #9/9 Colgate
The Colgate Raiders will come to Hamden as the No. 9/9 team in the nation. This will be the second week in a row that the Bobcats have faced the No. 9 team in the country. Colgate holds an 18-5-1 overall record and 8-3-1 ECAC Hockey record. The Raiders have only played four games to open 2022, recording a 3-1 record. Most recently, Colgate went 1-1 against Yale and Brown, earning three points against the Brown Bears with a 2-1 win and lost 3-0 to No. 10 Yale. The Raiders sit in fifth place in the ECAC Hockey standings with 22.5 points.
Danielle Serdachny leads the team with 35 points on 11 goals and 24 assists. Twelve Raiders have tallied double-digit points this season, and Colgate is ranked fourth in the nation with 94 goals scored this season. Back on Nov. 12, 2021, Colgate's Hannah Murphy played in the net and the Bobcats won 4-0. Kayle Osborne, however, has started all four games to start 2022, allowing four goals against. Osborne has tallied a 1.94 goals against average with a .911 save percentage.
All-Time vs the Raiders
The Bobcats hold a 16-22-5 overall record against Colgate. The teams have traded wins over the last four games, but the Bobcats defeated Colgate back on Nov. 12, 2021 on the road, 4-0.
Scouting Cornell
The Cornell Big Red hold an 8-8-1 overall record with a 6-5-1 ECAC Hockey record. Cornell is coming off a 4-0 victory over Clarkson and a 1-4 loss to Yale, both top-ten teams at the moment. Cornell is tied with Princeton in the ECAC Hockey standings with 19.5 points through 12 games played.
Gillis Frechette leads the team with 20 points on eight goals and 12 assists. Three skaters have tallied double-digit points this season, and, as a team, the Big Red have recorded 42 points. Lindsay Browning has played most of the minutes in the net for Cornell. She has tallied a 1.94 goals against average with a .928 save percentage.

Due to COVID-19 health and safety measures within each team, total games played are not even across the board at this time due to re-scheduling conflicts.

Graduate student Corinne Schroder and redshirt junior Logan Angers were both named to the 2022 National Goalie of the Year Award Watch List. Angers has recorded a 1.27 goals against average, which is ranked fourth in the nation. In addition, Angers is the only goalie in the country who has not lost a game yet and has tallied a .950 winning percentage to lead the nation. Schroeder is ranked seventh in the country in goals against average (1.35) and third in save percentage (.950) behind Northeastern's Aerin Frankel.
Mobes & Coop Making It Happen
Olivia Mobley and Kendall Cooper have recorded nine points together through the last three games, tallying a three-game point streak. Against Union on Jan. 17, both Mobley and Cooper scored once and added assists on each other's goals. In the loss to Harvard, the each tallied an assist on the Bobcats' second goal scored by Zoe Boyd. Mobley added a goal in the 3-1 win over Dartmouth and Cooper tallied the helper.
Peart Points
Sadie Peart scored her second power play goal and third game-winning goal this season against Union. She also notched her fifth multi-point game of the season, which leads the team. Peart scored the Bobcats' first goal against Harvard, as well. She has recorded 21 points this season, which is just three points away from tying her career high.
Comparing the PairWise
Quinnipiac is tied for sixth in the USCHO's PairWise Rankings with a 0.6071 RPI. Yale leads the conference in fifth place. Five different ECAC Hockey teams are ranked in the top ten in the PairWise Rankings.

First-Year Bobcats
The Bobcats will welcome six first years to the team and are excited to see their immediate impacts on the ice. Maya Labad (Montreal, Quebec) and Ann-Frédérik Naud (Montreal, Quebec) join the team with Hockey Canada experience and a dynamic duo mentality. The two Canadians have played hockey together since they were little and will look to bring their familiarity and cohesiveness to the ice on offense. Veronica Bac comes to Hamden from Huntley, Ill., and was a member of the Chicago mission team. Kate Helgeson is a forward hailing from Roseau High School in Roseau, Minn. Mallory Mauracher and Mia Lopata complete the first-year group, and come from Dublin, Ohio and Clinton, N.Y., respectively.
