NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Quinnipiac men's soccer returns to the pitch on Monday afternoon, traveling down to Iona for a 1:00 PM MAAC contest.
BALANCED ATTACK
- Quinnipiac's eight goals have come from eight different scorers so far in the spring 2021 campaign. Luke Allen, Oriac Vila Rotxes, David Bercedo, Domen Bozic, Alex Holle, Paulo Soares, Tomas Svecula and Henry Weigand.
- 10 different Bobcats have registered a point, with nine tallying multiple points already.

SEASON OPENING WIN
- The Bobcats earned a double-overtime victory in their first contest of the 2021 spring season, edging Fairfield 1-0 on the road at Lessing Field on March 18.
- Alex Holle scored in the 108th minute on a feed from Brage Aasen – sending Quinnipiac back to Hamden with the win. The goal is Holle's second career score.
- Following the win over in-state rival Fairfield, QU was featured in New England Soccer Journal.
- The Bobcats earned their second straight win to begin the spring 2021 season, defeating Niagara 1-0 in MAAC play on Sunday, March 21.
- Oriac Vila Rotxes scored the lone goal of the game in the 68th minute – his fifth career goal.
- The Bobcats cruised past Siena their last time out (March 25), earning a 4-1 at the QU Soccer Stadium in Hamden.
- Domen Bozic, Tomas Svecula, Luke Allen and Domen Bozic all scored in the win for the Bobcats – who improve to 3-0 to begin the spring 2021 season.
- The Bobcats outshot Siena 19-9 in total.
- QU earned six corner chances, while the Saints had one.
- The Bobcats defense earned two straight shutouts to begin the spring season. Quinnipiac has surrendered just four goals in four games this year.
- QU's group has allowed just 41 total shots in four games.
- Senior Jared Mazzola has two shutouts already, making nine saves over a 3-1 start. The Bobcats' goalkeeper was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week on March 23 for his efforts thus far.
- Head Coach Eric Da Costa has a 118-110-52 record during his time at Quinnipiac, and has led the Bobcats to a postseason conference tournament appearance in eight straight seasons (2012 in the NEC, 2013-19 in the MAAC).
- Since joining the MAAC prior to the 2013 season, Quinnipiac has appeared in three MAAC Tournament title contests (2013, 2016, 2018). Under Da Costa's tutelage, the Bobcats have posted an impressive 47-16-11 mark in regular season MAAC games.
- Quinnipiac has been tabbed No. 2 in the 2020-21 MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Feb. 16.
- The Bobcats received 111 total points in the coaches' poll – just one point behind Saint Peter's for the top spot. Quinnipiac earned five first-place votes, while Saint Peter's garnered six.
- Quinnipiac continued its success as a program in 2019, as the Bobcats went 7-2-1 in league play to earn the No. 2 seed in the MAAC Tournament.
- The program went 9-6-3 overall, winning six of its last eight games to conclude the regular season schedule.
- The Bobcats advanced to the MAAC semifinals, falling vs. Iona.
- Tomas Svecula recorded 16 points during his first campaign with the Bobcats, earning MAAC Rookie of the Year honors. Svecula became the second player in program history to win the league's Rookie of the Year award, as Eamon Whelan earned the honor after scoring 11 goals as a first-year student in 2016.
- Svecula, Brage Aasen and Henry Weigand earned All-Rookie status for the Bobcats, as well, marking the first time Quinnipiac has placed three or more student-athletes on the All-Rookie team since 2016 (Chrysostomos Iakovidis, Jeppe Haehre, Conor McCoy, Eamon Whelan).
- The Bobcats earned eight total honors in the conference's All-MAAC Awards. Eamon Whelan was named to the All-MAAC First Team, while Romain Daniellou, Conor McCoy and Jared Mazzola were selected to the All-MAAC Second Team.
- Quinnipiac returns home on Thursday, April 1, hosting Rider at 2:30 PM in Hamden.
