SCORING SUMMARY
First Half
- (30' – Iona 1, Quinnipiac 0): The Gaels struck first after an evenly possessed first half. Edu Calvo-Salinas crossed a ball from the left side to the right side of the box to find a wide-open Lenworth Lopez. Lopez controlled the ball with one touch and placed a driven ball into the bottom left corner of the goal past Quinnipiac's keeper Antreas Hadijgavriel.
- (30' – Quinnipiac 1, Iona 1): The Bobcats answered right back after drawing a foul inside of the box about 30 seconds after the Gaels' goal. Sophomore Tomas Svecula netted his second goal of the season on a penalty kick to tie the game.
- (49' – Quinnipiac 2, Iona 1): Alex Holle received a ball from David Bercedo and took a great touch around the Iona center back to create space. Holle took two more dribbles and finished with a driven ball on the ground past Iona's keeper Gabriel Cinanni.
- (49' – Iona 2, Quinnipiac 2): The Gaels responded 20 seconds later with a second goal by Lenworth Lopez, who received a long ball from Luke Monaghan and volleyed it home.
- (65' – Quinnipiac 3, Iona 2): The Bobcats took a 3-2 lead after Brage Aasen scored a beautiful goal right at the top of the box after some rebounds within the box. The ball came to Aasen in the air, and he took a touch across his body and hit the ball first time past Iona's Cinanni.
- (67' – Quinnipiac 4, Iona 2): Aasen scored his second goal of the day after a nice build up from outside the box by Quinnipiac. Aasen dribbled past an Iona's defender in the box and scored in the bottom right corner of the goal.
- (68' – Iona 3, Quinnipiac 4): The Gaels did not back down and came back to score nearly 30 seconds after Aasen's second goal. Camil Ruiz Azzam would net the Gael's third goal of the game from Alessio Hernandez.
- (82' – Quinnipiac 5, Iona 3): Henry Weigand had a huge block at the top of Quinnipiac's box to deny an Iona shot. The block went almost to half field, and David Bercedo secured the ball to give Quinnipiac a counter-attack opportunity. Bercedo sprinted 70 yards with the ball and scored to give Quinnipiac a 5-3 lead.
- The Gaels outshot the Bobcats 17-12 (total shots). The Bobcats had seven shots on goal as compared to the Gaels' six.
- Iona's Tomas Jamett received a red card in the 59th minute, forcing the Gaels to play the remainder of the game a man down.
