Quinnipiac to host Colgate in final regular season series
HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team is set to play the regular season finale this weekend as the Bobcats host the No. 5/5 Colgate Raiders for a two-game home series. Puck drop is set for 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26 and 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27.
Quinnipiac holds a 3-4 record in conference play as the Bobcats and look to pick up six points in the last two regular season conference games. Colgate will come to Hamden with a 7-3 conference record and has gone 2-2 in the last four games.

Playoff Picture
The ECAC playoffs will be played March 5 and 7, and all four teams have the opportunity to host the semifinal game. Seeding will be finalized after the weekend's games. Playoff seeding with be determined by percentage of available points, since not all teams have competed in the same amount of league games. The No. 4 seed will travel to the No. 1 seed, and the No. 2 seed will host the No. 3 seed. The championship game will be played at the site of the highest seed remaining. Quinnipiac can secure the second, third or fourth seed depending on this weekend's results.
Last Time Out
The Bobcats had one week off before previously hosting the St. Lawrence Saints for a three-game series Jan. 13-15. Quinnipiac took two-of-three games against St. Lawrence, including a 1-0 shutout win on the third day. The Saints won the first matchup, 4-1, after Julia Gosling and Anna Segedi each tallied three points for the Saints. Quinnipiac bounced back the next day and won a back-and-forth battle with the Saints, 5-3. Five different Bobcats scored in the win – seniors Laura Lundblad and Taylor House, sophomore Sadie Peart, redshirt-sophomore Courtney Vorster and first-year Olivia Mobley.
The Bobcats won the final game of the series, 1-0, and first-year Catie Boudiette earned her third shutout of the season. Senior Taylor Girard scored the game-winning goal off a Saints' turnover in their own defensive zone.
Scouting #5/5 Colgate
The Colgate Raiders currently hold the top spot in the ECAC standings with a 7-3 conference record. They are the only ECAC team to have had the opportunity to play all of their scheduled conference games this season. The Raiders are coming off a 1-1 weekend against the St. Lawrence Saints. Colgate fell in the first game, 3-2, and bounced back to win the second game against the Saints, 5-0.
Danielle Serdachny leads the Raiders with 16 points on six goals and 10 assists this season. The sophomore forward also leads the conference in points with nine (ECAC play only). The Raiders have six skaters with double-digit points on the year. Kayle Osborne has played in 18 games for Colgate as their go-to netminder. She has recorded a 11-5-1 record with a .930 save percentage and 1.62 goals against average.
Last Time Against the Raiders
Colgate took both games against the Bobcats in the opening weekend for ECAC play back on Jan. 9 and 10. Quinnipiac only scored one goal against the Raiders, but the Bobcats are looking to continue their current momentum and flip the results for the upcoming weekend. Noemi Neubauerova, Serdachny, Darcie Lappan and Rosy Demers netted goals against the Bobcats that weekend. Colgate outshot Quinnipiac, 57-43; the Bobcats' 21 shots in the first game was season low.
Recognizing the First Years
The Bobcats have earned an ECAC Weekly award in all but two of the weeks the awards have been present, and all of the award recipients have been first years. Netminder Catie Boudiette has earned the Goalie and Rookie of the Week award. Kendall Cooper, Olivia Mobley and Maddy Samoskevich has all been named the Rookie of the Week. The Bobcats have been represented in the weekly awards three weeks in a row.
Adzija & Saltness Lead the Way
Junior Lexie Adzija and senior Renee Saltness are leading the Bobcats on the offensive end. When the pair does score or assist in a game, the Bobcats are 7-3 overall. Adzija and Saltness lead the team with 14 points on six goals and eight assists each. Both forwards have double-digit on-ice ratings and three game-winning goals together. They have recorded a combined 91 shots on net and just one penalty between the both of them.
Girard Picking Up Steam
Senior Taylor Girard has been unstoppable over the last four games. The senior has tallied six points through four games with one game-winning goal. She has recorded five goals and eight assists for 13 points this season.
Watch Out for Angers
Redshirt sophomore netminder Logan Angers has been named to the new Women's Hockey Goalie of the Year Award watch list. She is one of just two netminders from the ECAC to be selected to the watch list. A total of 21 goalies were chosen from across the country.
Adzija Featured on the Kaz Watch
Lexie Adzija was featured on the USA Hockey Foundation's "Kaz Watch" series, which highlights players from around the country who have the potential to be nominated for the award. "There are so many incredible players in women's hockey right now," Adzija said. "I've worked extremely hard over the years and the fact that my name is even being considered is a special feeling, I really can't describe it."
Markey Making Moves On and Off the Ice
Senior forward Grace Markey has been nominated for the 2021 Hockey Humanitarian Award. She is one of just six collegiate hockey players, male or female, to be nominated. Markey is the team's community service representative and is one of the community service leaders on campus. The senior has recorded three goals and three assists for six points this season.
Defensive Core
First-year Kendall Cooper leads the defensemen with nine points on four goals and five assists, But, three other Bobcats are not far behind her. Courtney Vorster scored against the Saints in the Bobcats' last series and has three goals and five assists for eight points. Sophomore Kate Reilly and first-year Maddy Samoskevich have also tallied eight points this season. Together, these four defensemen have 39 blocked shots.
Scoring Offense & Defense
The Bobcats still holds one of the top scoring offenses in the nation, averaging 4.15 goals per game, which is the second-best in the county. In addition, Quinnipiac is holding opponents to 1.62 goals per game, which is sixth-best in the country.
Bobcats Out of the Box
Quinnipiac has recorded just 71 PIM this season through 13 games (5.5 PIM/G), which is ranked as the second lowest PIM/G in the country, just in front UConn.
