Women's Ice Hockey Hosts Yale, Brown in Regular Season Finale

HAMDEN, Conn. - The No. 10/10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team will host Yale and Brown for the final home games of the season. The Bobcats are coming off a 1-1 weekend after downing No. 7/6 Clarkson on Friday, Feb. 14, 2-1. The Quinnipiac Department of Athletics and the women's ice hockey program will honor the team's five seniors prior to puck drop against Brown. Seniors Allison Roethke, Kenzie Prater, Abbie Ives, Kati Tabin and Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout will play their final home games of their careers.

Bobcats' Last Time Out
Quinnipiac traveled to the North Country to take on Clarkson and St. Lawrence in the final regular season road trip of the year. The Bobcats and the Golden Knights met on Friday and played to a 2-1 win for Quinnipiac. Junior Grace Markey scored the Bobcats' first goal in the second period from junior Laura Lundblad and sophomore Zoe Boyd. Clarkson's Elizabeth Giguere netted her 28th goal of the year 23 seconds later to tie the game. Senior Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout later scored her 13th goal of the year to give Quinnipiac the 2-1 edge. The Bobcats would hold on to defeat the Golden Knights for the first time in Potsdam since Nov. 2017.
On Saturday, Feb. 15, Quinnipiac made the short trip to Canton, N.Y., to take on the Saints. St. Lawrence held a 1-0 lead for the entire second period. Junior Taylor House scored with 16 minutes left in the third period to tie the game. Quinnipiac felt the momentum shift and senior Kenzie Prater scored eight seconds later to give the Bobcats a 2-1 lead. The Saints would come storming back, however, and score two unanswered goals with under 10 minutes to play and hold on to win, 3-2.
Bobcats Hold the No. 10 Spot
Quinnipiac remains ranked as the No. 10 team in both the USCHO Poll and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll after this past weekend's play.
Scouting Yale
The Yale Bulldogs sit in fifth in the ECAC standings with 24 points and a 12-8-0 conference record. The Bulldogs come to Hamden after splitting the previous weekend with Colgate and Cornell. Yale defeated the Raiders, 5-3, and lost to No. 1/1 Cornell, 5-1. The Bulldogs are 2-4 in the team's last six games.
Claire Dalton leads the team with nine goals and 18 assists for 27 points. Gianna Meloni and Tera Hoffman have split time this season in the net for Yale. Meloni has played in the net in both games against Quinnipiac this season. She has recorded a .914 save percentage and 2.26 goals against average with an 8-7 record.
Last Time against the Bulldogs
Quinnipiac played Yale not too long ago on Feb. 1 and won 3-1. The Bobcats are looking for the team's third win of the year against Yale. In the ECAC contest in February, first-years Kate Reilly and Sadie Peart and Markey scored for the Bobcats in the win. Senior netminder Abbie Ives had a solid game with 30 saves and one goal against.
Scouting Brown
The Brown Bears hold a 3-21-3 overall record and 2-16-2 conference record this year. The Bears were swept by Colgate and Cornell last weekend. Shay Maloney leads the team with six goals and six assists for 12 points on the season. Calla Isaac has played 21 games in the net for Brown, recording a .911 save percentage and 3.71 goals against average.
Last Time against the Bears
Quinnipiac defeated Brown, 3-1, in Providence on Jan. 31. Juniors Taylor Girard and Taylor House and senior Kati Tabin all scored and tallied multi-point games in the win. Ives recorded 17 saves. Brown's Tina Paolillo scored in the third period.
Scoring All Around
Twelve Bobcats had tallied double-digit point totals this season, which is the most for the team since the 2015-16 season. Six Bobcats have recorded career-best point totals this season, as well.
Lundblad with the Hatty
The Ada, Michigan native scored her first career hat trick against RPI on Saturday, Feb. 8. She tallied the game-winning goal in the second period on an unassisted break-away. She later netted the team's fourth and fifth goal of the day from junior Brooke Bonsteel (2a) and Peart. Lundblad earned the ECAC Player of the Week award for her five-weekend points.
Peart on a Roll
First-year Sadie Peart leads all Quinnipiac first years with 18 points on nine goals and nine assists. Peart is ranked eighth in the conference for freshmen scoring.
Bonsteel-Lundblad Linking
The duo of Brooke Bonsteel and Laura Lundblad have recorded 20 points combined through the last 10 games. Bonsteel is fourth on the team in scoring with 16 points on five goals and 11 assists. Lundblad has seven goals and six assists for 13 points on the season and notched a seven-game point streak up to the St. Lawrence game. Bonsteel recorded assists on two of Lundblad's three goals against RPI.
Cassandra Turner Nears 100 Wins
Head coach Cass Turner earned her 97th career win as a head coach. She needs just three more wins to reach her 100th.
Strong Starts Lead to Strong Finishes
The Bobcats are 15-0 this season when they score the first goal of any game. If Quinnipiac leads going into the third period, the team is 13-0 this season.
Non-Conference, Non-Stop
Quinnipiac completed the final non-conference games of the season after a two-game road series with No. 5/5 Ohio State Jan. 24-25. The Bobcats went 7-3-1 against non-conference opponents in 2019-20. The team outscored non-ECAC opponents 35-17 this season.
Dominant Defensive Core
Quinnipiac's defensive core has allowed 55 goals this season, averaging 1.72 goals against per game, which is ranked seventh in the country. Senior Kenzie Prater leads the team with 48 blocks, followed by Reilly with 40.
