Bobcats Earn First Home Win vs. Bulldogs Since 2006
The Bobcats trailed 5-0 after the first inning-and-a-half but were unphased as they scored eight unanswered runs in three innings to take an 8-5 lead.
Reliver Matthew Draper (Lowell, Massachusetts) played a key role in the comeback as he settled in on the mound in four innings of work, including striking out the side in the third inning. Quinnipiac's bullpen allowed just one earned in 7.1 innings of work Wednesday.
After Yale tied the game in the top of the sixth inning, Quinnipiac answered once again in the bottom half to take the lead for good before adding three insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a 12-8 lead. The Bulldogs drew a lead-off walk in the ninth inning, but Cole Shelton lined into a double play to Ian Ostberg (Northampton, Massachusetts) to end any ninth inning threat before Andrew Workman (Pound Ridge, New York) struck out the final batter of the game for his fourth save.
