Bobcats Drop Wednesday's Game, 14-5, Return to MAAC Play on Friday
Vulgamore's home run extended his hitting streak and games with an RBI streak to eight games, with the latter good for the longest on the team this season while the former is the third longest for the Bobcats.
Kyle Maves (Burlington, Ontario) led off the game with a bunt single, his first of three hits in the game and came home to score on the Vulgamore two-run blast that gave the Bobcats a 2-1 lead over the Bulldogs.
Bryant scored nine runs in the first four innings but Quinnipiac remained in striking distance for much of the game as Blake DeCarr (Foxboro, Massachusetts) settled things down until the beginning of the eighth inning. He struck out eight batters in 4.2 innings pitched despite the Bulldogs really pulling away in the eighth inning.

QUINNIPIAC SCORING PLAYS
FIRST INNING
- Maves reached on a bunt single to lead off the game and moved up to second base on a throwing error by the Bryant starting pitcher.
- The error did not matter; however, as Vulgamore followed with a home run to deep left centerfield to take a 2-1 lead.
- The Bobcats stopped a stretch of three straight runs from the Bulldogs to cut their lead to 5-3 in the bottom of the third.
- Maves reached on an infield single and advanced to second as Vulgamore was hit by a pitch.
- After a wild pitch moved both runners into scoring position, Bender lifted a sacrifice fly down the right field line that easily scored Maves from third.
- Bryant scored five runs in the top of the inning before Quinnipiac got one back in the bottom half
- Ian Ostberg (Northampton, Massachusetts) singled up the middle to lead off the inning and went first-to-third on a single through the right side from Dylan Lutz (Denver, Colorado)
- Anthony Cruz (Burlington, Massachusetts) laid down a safety squeeze that scored Ostberg to cut the Bryant lead to 9-4.
- The Bulldogs added another run in the top of the sixth before the Bobcats answered in the bottom half to make it 10-5.
- Andre Marrero (West Springfield, Massachusetts) led off the inning with a double to left centerfield and advanced to third on a groundout from Ostberg
- Lutz drilled a ball up the middle that was snagged by Bryant's shortstop Jimmy Titus, but Lutz reached safely on the infield single that scored Marrero.
