Bobcats, Pioneers to play two games at Frank Perrotti Jr. Arena
HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac women's hockey team returns to the ice to take on the Sacred Heart Pioneers of the New England Women's Hockey Alliance. The Bobcats will host the Pioneers Oct. 25-26 with puck drop scheduled for 6 and 3 p.m.

GAME NOTES
Last Time Out
Quinnipiac took a trip up to Orono, Maine to face the Maine Black Bears. The Bobcats came away with a win and a tie after two back-to-back overtime games.
On Friday, Oct. 11, Quinnipiac trailed 1-0 to Maine in the opening period but scored two goals within 10 seconds of each other to take back the lead in the first period. Freshman Sadie Peart scored her first career goal on the Bobcats power play to tie the game 1-1. Ten seconds later, sophomore Lexie Adzija added her first goal of the season to give Quinnipiac the 2-1 lead going into the second period. The Black Bears would tie the game 2-2, forcing overtime, and Peart would later score the game-winning goal to give Quinnipiac the 3-2 win.
The second tilt between the Bobcats and Black Bears ended as a 0-0 tie after a full overtime period. Senior netminder Abbie Ives recorded 23 saves and tallied her first shutout of the season.
Scouting Sacred Heart
The Pioneers are 2-4-0 overall and 2-0-0 in NEWHA. Sacred Heart is coming off two wins against NEWHA foe, Saint Anselm. The Pioneers opened the season against Maine, losing 4-0 and 7-0. Kelly Solak leads the team with four points (1g, 3a). In the net, Frankie Sanchez has played in all six games for the Pioneers, recording a .899 save percentage and 4.51 goals against average.
All-Time Against the Pioneers
Quinnipiac has never lost to Sacred Heart, recording a 11-0 all-time record. Last season, the Bobcats faced the Pioneers in Shelton, Conn., and won 2-1.
Minnesota Sisters Meet in Hamden
Sophomore forward Katie Huntington and her sister, Charlotte, both hail from Prior Lake High School, but they will be playing against each other this weekend. Charlotte is a freshman on Sacred Heart's women's ice hockey team.
Immediate Impact
The Quinnipiac freshmen class has quickly and positively impacted the team on the ice to start the 2019-20 season. Freshman Alexa Hoskin is ranked second on the team in points with one goal and two assists. Sadie Peart scored her first career goal and the game-winning goal in overtime to send the Bobcats past the Black Bears. Kate Reilly has tallied two assists. Peart and Reilly lead the team with 13 shots on goal each.
Bobcats' Special Teams
Quinnipiac has converted four goals on the power play out of 18 attempts (22.2%), which is the second-best conversion percentage out of the ECAC teams who have played this season so far. On the penalty kill, Quinnipiac ranks first in the ECAC after allowing just one power play goal this season. The Bobcats have killed off 11 out of 12 (91.7%) power plays.
A Look at Last Season
Quinnipiac finished the 2018-19 season in the quarterfinals of the ECAC Hockey Tournament in a battle of a series against the Clarkson Golden Knights. The Bobcats tallied a 12-18-6 record last year.
Returning Numbers
The Bobcats lost five seniors in 2019, but will return 15 letter-winners from last season. Of the top ten scorers from 2018-19, six will return for the Bobcats, including two defensemen, Kati Tabin and Zoe Boyd. In the net, Abbie Ives returns for her senior campaign after recording a .924 save percentage and 1.89 GAA last year. Ives' 1.73 career GAA is ranked fifth in the program's all-time individual career records list.
Leading the Charge
The captains for the Bobcats have been named ahead of the 2019-20 season. Wearing the "C" will be seniors Kenzie Prater and Kati Tabin. The alternate captains will be senior Abbie Ives and junior Olivia Konigson.
Schedule Breakdown
The Bobcats have 34 games slated for the 2019-20 season. Quinnipiac will face six non-conference teams including Providence, Maine, Sacred Heart, Minnesota Duluth, Merrimack and Ohio State. Of the non-conference teams, Minnesota Duluth and Ohio State were ranked in the first poll of the season at #10 and #9, respectively.
Tabin's Summer
The senior defenseman was named to the BFL National Women's Development Team for Team Canada's Summer Showcase. The camp took place in Calgary at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport's Canada Olympic Park from Aug. 2-11. Eighty-nine of the Canada's top under-18 and development team talents were selected. Tabin was also invited back to camp for Hockey Canada's National Women's Team Fall Festival for the second year in a row. The camp took place in Liverpool, N.S., from Sept. 9-15, after the Summer Showcase.
