SCORING SUMMARY
- (4:22, 1st period) – Quinnipiac 1, UConn 0: The Bobcats opened up the game with an incredible goal as Desi Burgart (North Vancouver, British Columbia) hit Fortunato with a spinning pass from the right boards and Fortunato finished with a wrister from the slot to beat UConn goaltender Adam Huska
- (6:17, 1st period) – Quinnipiac 2, UConn 0: Tufto doubled the Bobcats lead with his second of the season as he controlled a shot from Wyatt Bongiovanni (Birmingham, Michigan) in the slot and went forehand-backhand to deke Huska for the open goal
- (17:06, 1st period) – Quinnipiac 2, UConn 1: The Huskies got one back late in the third period as Jonny Evans deposited his first goal of the season off a feed from Kale Howarth
- (12:32, 2nd period) – Quinnipiac 3, UConn 1: Fällström connected on his first career goal as Craig Martin (Trail, British Columbia) redirected a pass from Chase Priskie (Pembroke Pines, Florida) to Alex Whelan (Ramsey, New Jersey). Whelan chipped the pass to Fallstrom skating into the offensive zone and Fällström buried the eventual game winner with authority.
- (11:50, 3rd period, PP) – Quinnipiac 3, UConn 2: After a flurry in front of the Bobcats net where two Quinnipiac players blocked shots, UConn freshman Carter Turnbull picked up a loose puck and found an open space in the slot to cut the Bobcats lead to one.
- (18:24, 3rd period) – Quinnipiac 4, UConn 2: Fällström scored his second of the night after UConn pulled Huska for the extra attacker. The freshman picked up the puck in the neutral zone and scored from just outside the blue line for the insurance tally.
NOTES
- Fällström scored his first two career goals after picking up an assist in the season opener at Vermont. The freshman is one of six Bobcats to earn points in both of the team's first two games this season.
- Sophomore goaltender Keith Petruzzelli (Wilbraham, Massachusetts) earned his second win of the season, making 11 saves on the evening.
- Quinnipiac's penalty kill was 3-for-4 in the win, including a perfect kill of a five-minute UConn powerplay in the third period. The Bobcats are 6-for-7 in the young season.
- Quinnipiac freshmen have tallied eight points in the first two games of the season for the time in Division I program history.
- Through two games, the Bobcats have received seven goals from six different goal scorers. The last time this happened and resulted in two wins to start a season was 2015-16 when the Bobcats went 32-4-7 and reached the NCAA National Championship.
- Tufto has scored in back-to-back games to open 2018-19 after doing so twice last season. The 2017-18 ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Year Finalist scored against Vermont and Northeastern (Oct. 14, 2017 and Oct. 20, 2017) and put together a three-game goal streak in ECAC play from Feb. 2-9, 2018.
- The Quinnipiac defense held UConn to 13 shots on goal Tuesday night, its fewest in a game since allowing just 13 shots against Bentley on Oct. 22, 2013.
UPCOMING GAME
- Quinnipiac's home stretch continues on Friday night as the Bobcats welcome the No. 18 Boston College Eagles to Hamden for a 7 p.m. tilt at the People's United Center. Limited tickets are still available at Quinnipiacbobcats.com/tickets.
