TONI TIME
- Antonin Verreault finished his NCAA debut with a memorable performance, finishing with a multi-point outing after dishing an assist on Chris Pelosi's breakaway goal before adding what would turn into the game-winning tally late in the second, making it a 3-0 Bobcat lead.
- He joined fellow first-years Will Zellers and Porter Martone on Thursday, recording multi-point outings in their first NCAA Tournament action.
- Sam Lipkin is the only other Bobcat to achieve that feat in their first NCAA Tournament game, as he had a three-point outing against Merrimack in his first tournament action of the 2022-23 campaign.
ONE AWAY...
- With a goal on Thursday night, Ethan Wyttenbach stands one point away from Bobcat history as he sits tied atop the individual scoring leaderboard with Collin Graf and Bryan Leitch.
- His 25th goal of the season turned into his 59th point, which brings him even with the two Bobcat legends. Leitch reached the mark in 39 games as well, while it took 41 for Graf to hit the mark.
- Wyttenbach will have at least one more go at it as the Bobcats take on North Dakota in the Regional Final on Saturday night.
REGIONAL FINALISTS... AGAIN
- A model of consistency in the NCAA Tournament, the Quinnipiac men's ice hockey program will play in its fifth NCAA Regional Final since 2019 on Saturday against the top-seeded North Dakota Fighting Hawks.
- Quinnipiac is the only program currently with that claim, with the winner of Friday night's Denver-Cornell game also joining the remarkable stretch.
- The loser of that contest will join Minnesota as the only two schools in the country with four, as everybody else has three or fewer Regional Final appearances.
VIC THE NCAA VET
- With Thursday night's victory, Victor Czerneckianair earned his sixth NCAA Tournament win as a Bobcat, tying the high-mark for a Quinnipiac player.
- He joins Travis St. Denis, who won six from the 2012-13 to 2015-16 campaigns, and the quintet of Zach Metsa, Ethan de Jong, Michael Lombardi, TJ Friedmann and Desi Burgart, who all earned six wins, culminating with a national championship.
- The 2023 tournament run were Czerneckianair's first four NCAA wins, followed by an overtime victory against Wisconsin in which he scored the winner.
PLUSES AND MINUSES
- Elliott Groenewold earned a plus-3 rating on Friday night and is currently at plus-41 on the year. He leads the nation in that category and is one of eight since 2002-03 to be plus-40 or higher (and only defenseman).
- Nobody since 2015-16 has finished a season at the plus-40 mark and they are familiar to Saturday's opponent: Drake Caggiula (+46), Brock Boeser (+45) and Nick Schmaltz (+44) of North Dakota.
