HAMDEN, Connecticut - The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team lost to Maine, 5-3, in the second game of a two-game series at Frank Perrotti, Jr. Arena. The loss drops Quinnipiac to 6-10-2 on the season while the Black Bears improve to 8-7-1.

Senior Tanner MacMaster (Calgary, Alberta) scored twice, to give him three goals on the weekend, and also push his season total to a team-leading eight goals for the year. Landon Smith (Greenwood Village, Colorado) and Odeen Tufto (Chaska, Minnesota) had two assists in the game while Logan Mick (Armstrong, British Columbia) scored his third goal of the season.

8:32, 1^st Period (Quinnipiac 1, Maine 0): Scott Davidson (Trail, British Columbia) won a face-off in the Black Bears' zone back to Mick who sent a shot through traffic that beat Maine goalie Jeremy Swayman and gave the Bobcats a 1-0 lead midway through the first period.
8:44, 2nd Period (Quinnipiac 1, Maine 1): Emil Westerlund picked up a rebound and slammed home the game-tying goal, top-shelf, off an initial shot from Brendan Robbins.
15:55, 2nd Period (Quinnipiac 1, Maine 2): Brady Keeper tipped the puck over to Cedric Lacroix, who sent a pass to Ryan Smith for the one-timer.

MacMaster's two-goal outing gives him a team-high eight for the season including three this weekend and five goals in his last five games.

UPCOMING BREAK
Quinnipiac is idle until its matchup against in-state foe, UConn, on Tuesday, Jan. 2 at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn. The Bobcats will be on the road for most of the month of January including trips to Colgate and Cornell on Jan. 5-6, followed by a trip to Dartmouth and Harvard on Jan. 12-13. The Bobcats then head West to face Arizona State on Jan. 19-20 before wrapping up the month of January at home against Princeton on Jan. 30.
