Landon Smith enters his senior year ranked second among all NCAA Division I men's ice hockey student-athletes with 97 points for his career. He's also tied for fifth with 38 career goals and tied for fourth with 59 career assists. He also leads the country with 11 game-winning goals for his career, while his 122 career games played are also the most among all NCAA Division I men's ice hockey skaters, which is also the longest active streak in college hockey.
As a Senior in 2017-18:
Picked up his first point of the season, and 60th career assist as well as his 98th career point, on an assist in a 3-2 loss to No. 2 Boston University on Sunday, Oct. 8 ... Scored his first goal of the season for his 99th career point in a 6-4 win at No. 16 Northeastern on Oct. 20 ... Picked up his 100th career point with an assist in a 3-2 overtime win at No. 16 Northeastern on Oct. 21 ... Became the 29th player in Quinnipiac history to reach 40 career goals against RPI on Nov. 10 ... Had a career-high four points on three goals and one assist in a 5-0 win against Brown on Nov. 17 ... His natural hat trick was the first at Quinnipiac since Travis St. Denis at RPI on Nov. 11, 2014 ... His third career hat trick ties him with Ben Nelson for the second most three-goal games in Quinnipiac’s Division I history, trailing Brandon Wong’s four ... Named MVP of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) and finalist for Canada’s Junior-A Player of the Year in 2013-14 … Invited to the Colorado Avalanche Prospects Camp in 2014 … In his MVP-season for Salmon Arm in the BCHL, Smith led the league with 43 goals in 58 games … He added 40 assists to give him 83 points on the season … Won multiple awards for his 2013-14 season including the Brett Hull Trophy given to the BCHL’s leading scorer and was named a First Team All-Star … Grew up playing locally for the Colorado Thunderbirds U-16 team in the Tier 1 EHL level, scoring 19 points (five goals, 14 assists) in 34 games … He captained that 2009-10 squad that advanced to win the National Championship … After a brief three-game stint with the Wenatchee Wild, Smith moved up to the Thunderbirds’ U-18 squad in 2010-11 where he totaled 20 points in 38 games … Advanced to the USHL where he played for Cedar Rapids for a full season in 2011-12 (21 points, 55 games) and 15 games in 2012-13 … He finished the 2012-13 campaign playing for the Chicago Steel where he scored 11 points in 34 games.
