HARTFORD, Conn. – Behind a 21-save shutout from sophomore Andrew Shortridge (Anchorage, Alaska), the Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team defeated UConn, 3-0, in a non-conference matchup at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. Alex Whelan (Ramsey, New Jersey) and Bo Pieper (Roseville, Minnesota) both scored for the Bobcats, who improve to 7-10-2 overall while UConn drops to 8-13-2 on the season.

- 6:15, 1st (Quinnipiac 1, UConn 0): Kevin Duane (New Canaan, Connecticut) knocked down an attempted clear by a UConn defenseman in the corner and threw a shot on net. Alex Whelan (Ramsey, New Jersey) collected the rebound off the save and potted his seventh of the season.
- 6:30, 3rd (Quinnipiac 2, UConn 0): Chase Priskie (Pembroke Pines, Florida) handled the puck along the boards and sent it on net where Scott Davidson (Trail, British Columbia) tipped the shot. UConn goalie Adam Huska made the save, but Bo Pieper (Roseville, Minnesota) was waiting for the rebound to push Quinnipiac's lead to two goals.

- Alex Whelan's first-period goal was his seventh of the season, and his team-leading sixth of the year on the road. Whelan also added an assist on Kevin McKernan's empty-net goal.
- Kevin Duane's assist on Whelan's goal was his third point of the season.
- Bo Pieper's goal was his fourth of the season and third in his last six games.
- Scott Davidson's assist on Pieper's goal was his fifth assist of the season and gave him a three-game point streak dating back to the Bobcats' series against Maine on Dec. 8-9.
- Davidson's current point streak matches his career-best, which he posted during the 2016 postseason, beginning with the 2016 ECAC Hockey Tournament Championship and included both games of the NCAA Tournament East Regional.
