HAMDEN, Conn. - 2016 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Championship tournament top seed Quinnipiac will take on RIT in the first game of the East Regional on Saturday, Mar. 26 at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York. The Bobcats enter the weekend with a record of 29-3-7 while RIT sits at 18-14-6.

THE BOBCATS ALL-TIME IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
• Quinnipiac will make its fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament in program history, including its fourth straight after advancing to the National Championship game in 2013.
• Quinnipiac's first NCAA Tournament appearance came in 2002 when it won the MAAC Championship before losing to Cornell in the NCAA First Round game, 6-1, in Worcester, Mass.
• The 2013 NCAA Tournament saw the Bobcats earn the No. 1 overall seed and win three straight games to advance to the program's first Frozen Four and finish as the National Runner-up to Yale in the Championship game.
• In 2014, Quinnipiac lost in the tournament's opening game, 4-0, to Providence in the East Regional in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
• In 2015, the Bobcats lost to North Dakota, 4-1, in the West Regional in Fargo, North Dakota.
• The Bobcats are 3-4 all-time in the NCAA Tournament as they defeated Canisius, Union and St. Cloud State in 2013 for their first three NCAA Tournament wins in program history.

ECAC HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP: QUINNIPIAC 4, HARVARD 1
• Quinnipiac clinched the Whitelaw Cup with a 4-1 win against Harvard in the 2016 ECAC Hockey Championship game at the 1980 Rink at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, New York on Saturday, Mar. 19.
• Tim Clifton (Matawan, New Jersey), Bo Pieper (Roseville, Minnesota), K.J. Tiefenwerth (Bellmore, New York) and Scott Davidson (Trail, British Columbia) all scored for the Bobcats.
• Landon Smith (Greenwood Village, Colorado) had two assists in the game while Connor Clifton (Matawan, New Jersey) picked up his league-leading eighth assist and ninth point of the postseason with two assists in the win and earned the 2016 ECAC Hockey Championship Most Outstanding Player Award.

The Bobcats In The National Polls
• The Bobcats were announced as the No. 1 team in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll on Monday, Mar. 21. The Bobcats still received all 34 first place votes.
• The Bobcats also were ranked No.1 in the latest USCHO.com Division I Poll, as announced on Monday, March 21, 2016. The Bobcats received 48 of the 50 first-place votes.

The Bobcats In The PairWise Ranking
• With their run in the ECAC Hockey Championship Semifinals, the Bobcats jumped ahead of North Dakota, and remained ahead of St. Cloud State, to re-claim the top spot in the PairWise Rankings.
• The PairWise Ranking is a system which attempts to mimic the method used by the NCAA Selection Committee to determine participants for the NCAA Division I men's hockey tournament. The PWR compares all teams by these criteria: record against common opponents, head-to-head competition, and the RPI.
• For each comparison won, a team receives one point. The final PWR ranking is based on the number of points (comparisons) won. Ties are settled by the RPI.

The Bobcats All-Time Against No. 4 RIT
• Quinnipiac and RIT have met four times in the all-time series, with the Bobcats' hosting a 3-1-0 record.
• The last meeting between the two teams came on Jan. 2, 2007, when the Tigers defeated Quinnipiac, 3-2, at the Northford Ice Pavilion.
• Quinnipiac is 2-0-0 all-time on RIT's home ice.
• Quinnipiac has never faced RIT in the postseason.

SCOUTING THE RIT TIGERS
• RIT enters the East Regional with a record of 18-14-6 overall.
• RIT won the Atlantic Hockey Tournament Championship - and the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament - with a 7-4 win against Robert Morris.
• RIT has won four-straight games, all in the postseason, after going 2-4-4 in their final 10 regular-season games.
• Senior Josh Mitchell leads RIT in assists (30) and points (36); for his career, Mitchell has scored 31 goals and assisted on 90 more for 121 points in 153 career games.
• Sophomore Myles Powell checks-in with a team-high 15 goals to go-along with 17 assists for 32 points.
• Freshman Gabe Valenzuela has tallied 13 goals and 15 assists for 28 points this season.
• In goal, Mike Rotolo is 8-7-2 with a 2.69 GAA and a .908 save percentage.

THE BOBCATS ALL-TIME AGAINST NO. 2 UMASS LOWELL
• Quinnipiac and UMass Lowell have faced each other five times, with the series currently sitting at 2-2-1.
• Quinnipiac lost the first game of the series, 4-1, in 2008 before winning the next two games in the series. Last season, Lowell took the first of a two-game series, 6-3, before Quinnipiac and the Riverhawks tied, 3-3, on the following night.

THE BOBCATS ALL-TIME AGAINST NO. 3 YALE
• Quinnipiac's 26-game record against Yale stands at 15-6-5 all-time, dating back to their first match-up on Jan. 8, 2006 in Northford, Conn.
• Quinnipiac has lost just once in the last 14 meetings between the two teams - in the 2013 NCAA National Championship Game - and boast a record of 9-1-4 since Jan. 6, 2012.
• Quinnipiac and Yale met twice this season with the Bobcats winning 3-0 in New Haven and 4-1 on their home ice.

• Quinnipiac has trailed in 16 of its 39 games this season, and own a record of 9-3-4 in those contests.

The Bobcats' Streak
• The Bobcats opened the season with a 17-game unbeaten streak, which was the second-longest unbeaten streak in program history, after the Bobcats posted a 21-game (18-0-3) unbeaten streak in the 2012-13 season.
• Quinnipiac's season-opening streak was the longest in NCAA Division I men's ice hockey since Colorado College opened the 1995-96 at 15-0-3. It was also the sixth longest in NCAA Division I men's ice hockey since 1970.
• Since its loss to Boston University on Dec. 12 to end its season-opening streak, the Bobcats went on an 11-game unbeaten streak, compiling a 6-0-5 record, before falling to St. Lawrence on Friday, Feb. 12.

• ECAC Hockey Third Team Selection
• ECAC Hockey All-Tournament team after posting a 4-1-0 record and stopping 113 of 125 shots on goal for the tournament.
• Season Stats: 29-3-7 with a 1.90 GAA and a .923 save percentage with seven shutouts.
• In 22 ECAC Hockey games, Garteig was 16-1-5 with a 1.97 GAA and a .920 save percentage.
• For the year, Garteig is 15-2-4 in 21 home games this season with a 1.61 goals-against average and a .937 save percentage with five shutouts.
• On the road, Garteig was 11-1-3 with a .905 save percentage and a 2.29 GAA, while his 11 road wins second among all NCAA Division I goalies.
• In 16 non-conference games, Garteig is 13-2-2 with a 1.80 GAA and a .928 save percentage, while his 13 wins were tied with St. Cloud's Charlie Lindgren for the most among all NCAA Division I goalies

• His 18 career shutouts rank fourth in NCAA Division I hockey history, all-time. Only three goalies in NCAA history - Ryan Miller (26), Joe Fallon (20) and Ben Scrivens (19) - have recorded more.
• His 75 career wins are tied for 19th in NCAA Division I men's ice hockey history; only 24 goalies have reached 70 career wins, all-time.
• On Thursday, Jan. 7, Michael Garteig recorded 25 saves in a 5-0 shutout against Union. Garteig's seventh clean sheet of the year is a program single-season record - passing his record of six he set as a sophomore in 2013-14.
• Garteig's shutout against Union made him the 24th goalie in NCAA Division I history to record seven shutouts in a single sea son. Only 11 goalies, entering 2015-16, have recorded eight or more in a season. Notre Dame's Jordan Pearce was the last one to do it, recording eight in 2009.
• Against Brown, Garteig ran his shutout streak to 194:49 minutes - the longest streak in program history, passing Jamie Holden's mark of 191:19 during the 2002-03 season. It was also the 25th longest streak in NCAA Division I men's ice hockey history.
• After blanking UMass, Yale and Brown in three-straight games, Garteig became just the 20th goalie in NCAA history to post three consecutive shutouts.
• In a 3-0 win at Yale, Gartieg won his 60th career game, breaking the program record of 59 held by JC Wells '01 and Jamie Holden '05.
• Garteig's 73 career wins rank first among all active goalies.

Garteig's Honors
• Garteig was honored by the Hockey Commissioners' Association as the NCAA Division I National Player of the Month for November. The announcement from the HCA came after Garteig was named ECAC Hockey's Goalie of the Month for the second-consecutive month.
• Garteig was named the ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Month for December. The Bobcats senior netminder was 4-1-0 with a .945 save percentage and a 1.25 goals-against average, leading all ECAC Hockey goaltenders in wins (4) and shutouts (2) in December.
• Garteig was named the ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week on Oct. 27.
• He was also named the ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Month for October.
• Garteig was named to the Mike Richter Award Watch List on Thursday, Oct. 8. The award is given annually to the top NCAA Division I goalie in the country.

Sam Anas (Jr., Left Wing, Potomac, Maryland/Youngstown Phantoms (USHL))
• ECAC Hockey First Team Selection
• ECAC Hockey All-Tournament Team after scoring two goals and assisting on three more for five points in five games.
• Leads ECAC Hockey in points (48) and is second in goals (23) while also picking up a career-best 25 assists.
• Had one goal in the Bobcats' 6-3 win against No. 15 Cornell, his third point of the postseason.
• Had a goal and an assist in Quinnipiac's ECAC Hockey Semifinal win against Dartmouth on Mar. 18, 2016.
• Is one of three players in ECAC Hockey - along with teammate Travis St. Denis (20-24) and Harvard's Jimmy Vesey (24-22) with 20 goals and 20 assists.
• Leads the league in power play points (23).
• Scored a league-best nine third-period goals.
• Led ECAC Hockey in goals on the road (11) and goals when trailing (9).
• Led the league with two game-tying goals and two extra-attacker goals.
• Registered a point in a league-leading 18 ECAC Hockey games, while also posting a league-best four two-goal games.

• Had a season-best 16-game point streak from Dec. 12 through Feb. 26 in which he compiled 12 goals and 13 assists.
• Since Dec. 12 he's led ECAC Hockey in points (31) and points per game (1.40), as well as power play points (12), points while trailing (12), as well as game-tying (3) and extra attacker (3) points.
• With a three-point night against UMass on Saturday, Nov. 27, he became the 37th player in program history and the 23rd at the Division I level to reach 100 career points. Anas did so in his 92nd career game.
• To date, he is also one of eight players with at least 60 career goals and 60 career assists.
• His 68 career goals rank third among active players.
• His 28 career power play goals are the most among active ECAC Hockey players.
• With his second goal against Colgate on Feb 6, Anas became the first player in Quinnipiac men's ice hockey history to score 20 goals in three-consecutive seasons. Chris Cerrella is the only other player in school history to score 20 goals in a season three times, doing so in 1997-98 (32), 1999-2000 (28) and 2000-2001 (21).
• Anas' 68 career goals are tied with Brandon Wong '10 for the second-most in program history. Ahead of Anas on Quinnipiac's Division I list is all-time leader David Marshall '10 (73).
• On the all-time list, Cerrella – having played one season at the Division III level – leads all Quinnipiac players with 99 career goals, followed by Bill Veneris '82 (92), Todd Johnson '89 (91), Jim Hanscom '80 (83) and Richard Buckholz '87 (76) who slide in ahead of Marshall's 73.
• For his career, Anas has scored 68 goals and assisted on 62 more for 130 points in 117 career games.
• He ranks eighth in career points (130) among active players while his 1.11 points per game are third behind Northeastern's Kevin Roy (1.16) and Harvard's Jimmy Vesey (1.13).
• A prolific goal-scorer, Anas has averaged 0.58 goals per game for his career, good for third among all active players while his 28 power play goals rank second.
• To date, he is also one of five active players with 65 career goals and 60 career assists.
• Anas was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
• With a three-point night against UMass on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2015 All-American Sam Anas (Potomac, Maryland) became the 37th player in program history and the 23rd at the Division I level to reach 100 career points. Anas did so in his 92nd career game.
• Against Harvard on Friday, Nov. 13, Anas became the 17th Quinnipiac player all-time and 11th player at the NCAA Division I level to score 50 goals, doing so in 87 games.

Travis St. Denis (Sr., Center, Trail, British Columbia/ Pentiction Vees (BCHL))
• ECAC Hockey Second Team Selection.
• Second on the Bobcats' roster in postseason points with two goals and four assists for six points in five tournament games.
• Travis St. Denis has scored 20 goals and assisted on 24 more for a career-high 44 points for the season.
• Had a goal and two assists in the Bobcats' 5-2 win against Cornell in Game 1 of the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals on Friday, Mar. 11 and an empty-net goal in Game 3.
• St. Denis is one of 37 players in NCAA Division I men's ice hockey to total 40 or more points to date.
• St. Denis sits at 58 goals and 62 assists for 120 points in 158 career games, and is one of 12 active players with 55 career goals and 55 career assists.
• Ranked third in ECAC Hockey in points (44), tied for fourth in assists (24) and third in goals scored (20).
• Was one of five players to score a goal in 16 or more games.
• In a seven-game point streak from Oct. 23 through Nov. 17 he scored six goals and assisted on four more for 10 points.

• Tied for fifth in ECAC Hockey with 18 goals
• Fourth in the league with 38 points.
• Leads ECAC Hockey in plus/minus (+24), and ranks 17th nationally.
• Second in the league with two short-handed goals.
• Second in the league with eight power play goals.
• Scored a goal in 16 games, good for second in the league.
• In 22 ECAC Hockey games, he ranked second in goals (14), assists (15) and points (29) while leading the league in power play goals (6), power play points (11), game-winning goals (4), shorthanded goals (2) and plus/minus (+22).
• In 17 games against ranked opponents, he scored seven goals and assisted on eight more for 15 points, that also included a team-high four power-play goals.
• Opened the season with a team-best seven-game goal streak, which also checked-in as the second-longest in Quinnipiac's Division I history.
• Scored twice in a 4-1 win against Harvard on Nov. 13.
• Had a goal and an assist in wins against Dartmouth on Nov. 14 and UConn on Nov. 17 to give him three-straight multiple-point games.

Landon Smith (So., Right Wing, Greenwood Village, Colorado/Salmon Arm Silverbacks (BCHL))
• For the year, Smith has accumulated 10 goals and 25 assists for 35 points.
• Had two goals in the Bobcats' 5-2 win against Cornell in Game 1 of the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals on Friday, Mar. 11.
• Had two goals and three assists in five ECAC Hockey Tournament Games.
• Smith peppered in the points against Dartmouth with one goal and two assists for his first three-point game of the season.
• Smith's three-point performance was also his sixth multiple-point game of the season, and has recorded a point in six of the last seven games.
• Landon Smith enjoyed a remarkable first season with the Bobcats in 2014-15, scoring 15 goals and assisting on 16 more for 31 points in his first year of college hockey.
• Smith started his sophomore year with a goal in the Bobcats' home opener, but then went nine straight games without a goal.

Devon Toews (Jr., Abbotsford, British Columbia/Surrey Eagles (BCHL))
• ECAC Hockey Second Team Selection
• Scored seven goals and picked up 20 assists for 27 points.
• In 32 regular-season games, Devon Toews led all ECAC Hockey defensemen in points per game (0.79), power play assists (12), power play points (13) and plus/minus (+22).
• He was also the only ECAC Hockey defensemen with a plus/minus of 20 or higher.
• In ECAC Hockey games only, his 14 assists led all ECAC Hockey d-men, while he also leads the league's defensemen in assists per game (0.70), points per game (0.95), power play assists (7), power play points (7) and plus/minus (+21).
• Reached career highs in goals (7), assists (20) and points (27).
• Ranked among ECAC Hockey defensemen in goals and second in assists and points.
• Had an assist on the game-winning goal in a 3-0 win at Yale on Dec. 4.
• Set-up the game-winner at Dartmouth in a 7-5 come-from-behind win on Jan.29.

Connor Clifton (Jr., Matawan, New Jersey/US National Developmental Team (NTDP))
• Named the ECAC Hockey Championship tournament's Most Outstanding Player after leading the league tournament in assists (8) and points (9).
• His eight assists and nine points were also the most in NCAA Division I hockey for the 2016 postseason, while he also lead the nation in plus/minus (+11).
• Had three assists in the Bobcats' 5-2 win against Cornell in Game 1 of the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals on Friday, Mar. 11 and two more in Game 3 for a five-assist weekend.
• Had a goal and an assist in Quinnipiac's 3-1 Semifinal win against Dartmouth.
• Had two assists in help Quinnipiac to a 4-1 win against Harvard for the 2016 Whitelaw Cup.
• Has blown past his 2014-15 point totals (0-5-5), accumulating seven goals and 19 assists for 26 points in 39 games this year.
• Clifton saw a six-game point streak – the longest of his career - fall with a scoreless showing against Harvard. Clifton scored an empty-net goal against Dartmouth and again against UConn to give him a point in eight of Quinnipiac's first 13 games.
• Clifton had an assist in a 3-2 win against Colgate on Friday, Nov. 13 before scoring the game-winner in overtime against Cornell in a 5-4 win in Ithaca, New York.
• Clifton was chosen in the 5th Round of the 2013 NHL Draft by the now-Arizona Coyotes.
• He was the first Quinnipiac freshman to join the Bobcats directly from the prestigious U.S. National Developmental Team.

Chase Priskie (Fr., Pembroke Pines, Florida/Salmon Arm Silverbacks (BCHL))
• ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Selection.
• Had two goals and two assists in the ECAC Hockey Tournament.
• Had two goals and an assist in the Quinnipiac's 5-4 loss to Cornell in Game 2 of the ECAC Hockey Tournament Quarterfinals.
• Became the first Quinnipiac defensmen since Dan Henningson against Harvard on Mar. 9, 2008 to score twice in an ECAC Hockey tournament game.
• Led all ECAC Hockey defensemen with 22 assists.
• As a freshman, had 22 assists to go along with four goals for 26 points.
• Was one of seven players in ECAC Hockey to record at least 20 assists for the year.
• Ranked third among the league's defensemen in points (26).
• Second among defenseman in power play assists (9) and power play points (10).
• Ranked third among league defenseman in plus/minus (+18) and tied for fourth overall.
• Led all ECAC Hockey freshmen with 22 assists, and was one of seven first-year skaters to record 20 points for the season.
• Led all ECAC Hockey freshmen in power play assists (9) and power play points (10).
• Had a three-assist night in a 5-4 overtime win at Cornell on Nov. 7.
• First Quinnipiac freshman defenseman to record 20 assists in a season since Matt Sorteberg in 2004-05.

Derek Smith (Jr., Defenseman, Apple Valley, Minnesota/Coulee Region Chill (NAHL))
• Derek Smith checks in with three goals and 13 assists for 16 points from the blue line.
• Derek Smith is fourth among ECAC Hockey defensemen with a +16 plus/minus and is one of four defensemen to block 65 or more shots (67, 4th) for the year.
• Smith provided the dramatics when he cleaned up a rebound and scored the game-winner in overtime against No. 4 Harvard at Madison Square Garden on Jan. 9.
• Smith found the back of the net in back-to-back games in the Bobcats' 6-0 and 4-3 wins against Princeton on Dec. 29-30.
• Smith totaled 13 assists in 36 games as a sophomore last year but sits second in the Bobcats' line-up with 11 helpers this season.
• Smith sits in the Bobcats' history books as the first player in program history to have scored on his first two shots on goal, which came in his second and third collegiate games.

Soren Jonzzon (Jr., Left Wing, Mountain View, California/Youngstown Phantom (USHL))
• Jonzzon stands at eight goals and nine assists for 17 points this season, giving him 14 goals and 19 assists for 33 points for his career.
• Scored an empty-net goal in the Bobcats 5-2 win against Cornell in Game 1 of the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals and had an assist in Game 2.
• Scored in both games on Feb. 19-20, including the game-winner just 15 seconds into overtime in a thrilling 5-4 victory at No. 17 Rensselaer on Friday, Feb. 19.
• Jonzzon had a strong weekend at Yale and Brown, totaling two assists against the Bulldogs while also scoring in the Bobcats' win at Brown.

K.J. Tiefenwerth (Jr., Right Wing, Bellmore, New York/Junior Bruins (EJHL)/Massachusetts (Hockey East)
• Had two goals and three assists for five points in five postseason games to date.
• Had a goal and an assist in the Bobcats' 5-4 loss to Cornell in Game 2 of the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals.
• Also had an assist in the Bobcats 5-2 win in Game 1 and in the Bobcats 6-3 win in Game 3.
• Quinnipiac junior K.J. Tiefenwerth is enjoying a break-out season, as he's tallied career-highs in goals (7), assists (13) and points (20).

Bo Pieper (So., Left Wing, Roseville, Minnesota/Coquitlam Express (BCHL))
• Scored a career-high two goals against the No. 15 Cornell Big Red for the first multiple-goal and multiple-point game of his career.
• Led Quinnipiac with three goals in the ECAC Hockey Tournament.
• Now has a career-high five goals to go along with four assists for eight points on the season.
• In his career, Pieper has tallied eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points.

Tanner MacMaster (So., Center, Calgary, Alberta/Camrose Kodiaks (AJHL))
• Enjoying an outstanding second season with the Bobcats with four goals and 16 assists for 20 points.
• Had three assists in the ECAC Hockey tournament.
• MacMaster entered the year with five goals and seven assists in his first season, giving him nine goals and 22 assists for 31 points in his career.
• All four of MacMaster's goals have come in the second half, to pair with eight assists for 12 points in his last 19 games.

Andrew Taverner (So., Left Wing, Edmonton, Alberta/Sherwood Park Crusaders (AJHL))
• Enters the weekend with five goals and nine assists for 14 points.
• Had a goal and three assists in five ECAC Hockey tournament games.
• Has almost tripled his first-season assist total after registering six goals and three assists as a freshman in 2014-15.
• Had a goal and two assists in the Bobcats' series against Cornell in the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals.

Scott Davidson (Fr., Right Wing, Trail, British Columbia/Chilliwack Chiefs (BCHL)
• Scored twice in the ECAC Hockey Tournament, including an empty-netter in the Bobcats' 4-1 win against Harvard to clinch the Whitelaw Cup.
• Scored seven goals and assisted on six more for 13 points in 38 games in his first season with the Bobcats.
