No. 4/3 QU Men's Ice Hockey Falls To Boston University, 3-0
10/22/2016 9:03:00 PM | Men's Ice Hockey
BOSTON, Massachusetts – Nationally-ranked No. 4/3 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey lost to No.8/8 Boston University, 3-0, in a non-conference match-up at Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts. Quinnipiac drops to 3-2-1 overall while BU improves to 3-2-0 on the year.
Boston University got on the board first on Jordan Greenway's third goal of the season. John MacLeod started the play, carrying it into the Bobcats defensive zone on an odd-man rush. MacLeod fed Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson as he streaked between the face-off circles and pulled off towards the left dot. He then spun and found Greenway waiting in the slot, who stick-handled the puck before sliding across the crease and flipping a backhand shot past Quinnipiac freshman goalie Andrew Shortridge (Anchorage, Alaska) to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead.
Slowed by a slew of penalties, the game remained scoreless for the remainder of the first period and almost halfway through the period. Just under eight minutes into the second, BU jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Forsbacka Karlsson tipped the puck to Patrick Harper who took-off down ice with Bobo Carpenter – who had just sprung from the penalty box – on a two-on-one breakaway that ended with Carpenter popping the puck into a wide-open net to give the Terriers a two-goal lead.
Forsbacka Karlsson added an empty-net goal with less than a minute to play in regulation.
Quinnipiac returns to action when it hosts University of Massachusetts at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Connecticut.
