Quinnipiac | UMass

Nationally-ranked No. 6/7 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey will host the University of Massachusetts on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center. Quinnipiac enters the game with a record of 3-2-0 overall while UMass is currently 2-1-0.

QUINNIPIAC vs. UMass
• Quinnipiac and UMass will face-off for the 11th time on Tuesday, Oct. 25, with the Bobcats holding a 6-2-2 advantage in the all-time series.
• Quinnipiac is 4-1-0 all-time on its home ice, including a home-and-home sweep last season. The Bobcats defeated the Minutemen, 4-1, in Amherst, Mass. on Nov. 27 before following with a 1-0 win at home on Nov. 28.

SCOUTING THE UMASS MINUTEMEN
• UMass enters Tuesday night's game with a record of 2-1-0 overall and are coming off a 3-2 win at home against Army West Point on Friday, Oct. 21. The Minutemen's tilt against the Bobcats will be their first road contest of the 2016-17 season.
• Jonny Lazarus (2g, 2a), Patrick Lee (1-3) and Dominic Trento (0-4) have all tallied four points to date while Trento leads the team in assists.
• In goal, Ryan Wischow is 2-0-0 with a 2.37 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage.

ACTIVE CAREER LEADERS
• Tim Clifton's 16 career power play goals rank second among all active NCAA Division I men's ice hockey student-athletes.
• Clifton also ranks tied for 22nd with 75 career points on 34 goals and 41 assists in 121 career games. His 34 career goals rank 17th among active players.
• Clifton's nine game-winning goals rank fifth among active players.
• Clifton is one of 22 players with three or more shorthanded goals for his career.
• Landon Smith is one of two juniors ranked among the 25 active career scorers. Smith's 72 points - on the strength of 28 goals and 44 assists - rank second to UMass Lowell's C.J. Smith's 35 goals and 46 assists for 81 points among those players in their third season of college hockey.
• Smith's 44 assists rank tied for 31st among active players.

YE OLE TAVERN(ER)
• Quinnipiac junior Andrew Taverner had tallied a goal and an assist in two of his previous three games before Saturday night's game against BU, doing so at Maine on Oct. 14 and again against UConn on Oct. 19.
• Taverner is currently tied with Tim Clifton with a team-high three goals and five points.
• For his career, Taverner has totaled 15 goals and 14 assists for 29 points in 74 assists.

NOW TEE-ING OFF...RAFFERTY, BROGAN
• Freshman Brogan Rafferty scored his first career goal in the Bobcats' 5-2 win against UConn on Oct. 19 while also adding an assist.
• Through the first six games of his collegiate career, the Dundee, Illinois native has totaled a goal and four assists.
• Rafferty has tallied a point in three of Quinnipiac's six games, including multiple points in the two games leading up to Saturday's game at Boston University.

OUR FAVORITE MARTIN
• Sophomore Craig Martin has doubled his career goal output with goals in back-to-back games against Maine on Oct. 15 and UConn on Oct. 19.

WADDYA SAY THERE, CLIFFY?
• Senior captain Connor Clifton hooked up with Andrew Taverner for an assist early in the Bobcats' win against UConn before converting on a power play opportunity for his first goal of the season later in the game.
• Clifton - one goal and two assists in six games - had a point in two of his last three outings before Saturday's game at BU.

IT'S TIMMY!!!
• Assistant captain Tim Clifton checks-in with a team-leading three goals and five points with a point in three of Quinnipiac's six games, including multiple points in two of those.
• He's one of five players (Tiefernwerth, Martin, McKernan, Rafferty) with points in back-to-back games.
• Clifton also leads all NCAA Division I forwards with 11 blocked shots to date.

ALDWORTH HIS WEIGHT IN GOALS
• Quinnipiac sophomore Thomas Aldworth scored on a beauty of a wrap-around against UConn in a 5-2 route on Oct. 19 for his second goal of the season.
• Aldworth has now scored in two of his last four games. Aldorth totaled six goals and seven assists in 32 games as a freshman.

K-DOT-J-DOT
• Senior K.J. Tiefenwerth is the only player in the Bobcats' line-up to tally a point in four of Quinnipiac's six games so far and sits at four assists for the year.
• Tiefenwerth entered the season with nine goals and 22 assists for 31 points in 100 career games. Last season, he scored seven times and assisted on 13 more goals.

QUIET LEADER
• Junior defenseman Kevin McKernan entered Saturday's game with an assist in his last two games, and in three of his last four outings. He also leads the Bobcats in plus/minus (+3).

Over the last five seasons (2010-11 through 2015-16), Quinnipiac has converted on 24.8% (197-795) of its power play opportunities, tops among all NCAA Division I programs.
