No. 3/3 QU Women’s Ice Hockey Falls, 4-1, to No. 6/7 Boston College

HAMDEN, Conn. - Taryn Baumgardt (Innisfail, Alberta) recorded her first goal of the season on Saturday afternoon at High Point Solutions Arena, as No. 3/3 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey fell to No. 6/7 Boston College, 4-1.
The Bobcats fall to 5-2-1 (0-0-0 ECAC Hockey) with the loss, while Boston College improves to 4-2-2 (3-1-0 Hockey East) with the victory. Quinnipiac is now 4-3-3 vs. ranked opponents over the last two seasons.
The Bobcats held the slight shot advantage, 6-5, through the first 20 minutes of action. Cianfarano was called for slashing with just 17 seconds left in the first period, but Quinnipiac completed the penalty kill with just over 18 minutes left in the second period.
The Bobcats had a good chance to get on the board 2:10 into the second period. Kenzie Lancaster (Waxhaw, North Carolina) crossed the puck to Meghan Turner (Bedford, New Hampshire) on a 2-on-1. Turner, going for an open net, had her wrist shot blocked by Eagles' defender Grace Bizal to keep things scoreless.
Boston College was then able to get on the board 5:28 into the second period on the power play. Toni Ann Miano recorded her second goal of the season for the Eagles, assists going to Makenna Newkirk and Andie Anastos on the play.
Quinnipiac would even things up less than two minutes later, though, as Baumgardt blasted a rifle into the back of the net from the point to make it 1-1. Kati Tabin (Winnipeg, Manitoba) was credited with an assist, as she set up Baumgardt at the top of the offensive zone.
The Eagles regained the lead with 3:46 left in the second period. Newkirk scored a goal of her own, with assists coming from Bizal and Caitrin Lonergan.
Boston College wasn't done, as the Eagles picked up another goal, shorthanded, to make it 3-1. Caitrin Lonergan scored the goal, with assists coming from Bizal and Newkirk. Bizal played the puck on the boards in the offensive zone, gained possession amidst three Quinnipiac defenders, then laid the puck to Lonergan right in front of the net.
Kenzie Kent added the Eagles added a fourth goal from Anastos at 11:14 in the third period.
After a tie on Friday and a loss on Saturday, Quinnipiac is now 4-17-4 all-time vs. Boston College. The Bobcats are back in action on Friday, Oct. 28, traveling to Ingalls Rink to face Yale at 6 p.m. in New Haven. Quinnipiac then travels to Brown on Saturday, Oct. 29 for a 3 p.m. puck drop.
