In the Limelight
Nationally-ranked No. 4/4 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey is on the road this weekend and will get its first game on television in program history as the Bobcats take on the Harvard Crimson in Cambridge with the game broadcast on NESN at 3:30 P.M. Following the game, the Bobcats will travel to Hanover, New Hampshire where they will take on the Dartmouth Big Green on Saturday at 3:05 P.M.
All-Time Against Harvard
Harvard has owned the all-time advantage against Quinnipiac as the Crimson are 18-3-2 in their 23 meetings. After falling in all four meetings during the 2014-15 season, the Bobcats picked up their first win against the Crimson since 2010 with a 2-1 overtime victory on Dec. 5, 2015. Melissa Samoskevich scored the game-winning goal with just 55.1 seconds remaining in overtime for the win. Emma Woods scored a first period goal to take a 1-0 lead before Harvard's Karly Heffernan midway through the third period. The win snapped an 11-game winless streak for the Bobcats against the Crimson.
Scouting the Crimson
After being picked to win the ECAC Hockey championship in the 2015-16 preseason coaches' poll, Harvard comes into this weekend's matchup with Quinnipiac tied for fourth place in the conference with an 11-7-1 record overall and 8-5-1 record in league play. The Crimson shut out the Dartmouth Big Green on Saturday, Jan. 23 to snap a three-game losing streak. Harvard has played its best hockey at home; however, going 8-1-1 at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center compared to a 3-6-0 mark away from home. Senior Miye D'Oench has been the offensive star for the Crimson, leading the team with 10 goals, 12 assists and 22 points on the season. Sydney Daniels and Grace Zarzecki are each tied for second on the team with seven goals, while Daniels has added six assists for 13 points, second on the team. Lexie Laing is also tied with Daniels for seconds on the team with 13 points on five goals and eight assists. Defensemen Briana Mastel, Michelle Picard and Katlin Tse are all tied for the most points among blue-liners with six while Mastel and Kate Hallett each have two goals. Despite a 7-7-0 record, Emerance Maschmeyer continues to be one of the best goaltenders in the country with four shutouts, a 1.63 GAA and .947 save percentage. Harvard's special teams continue to be among the best in the country with their power play sitting at 19.1 percent (9 for 47) while the penalty kill is tied with Boston College for third in the country.
All-Time Against Dartmouth
Quinnipiac has enjoyed success in recent history against Dartmouth, riding a five-game unbeaten streak against the Big Green heading into this weekend's matchup at Thompson Arena. The Bobcats throttled the Big Green, 7-1, in their last match led by Taryn Baumgardt's career-high two goals and three points. Melissa Samoskevich also added a pair of goals while Taylar Cianfarano, Randi Marcon and Kristen Tamberg each tallied one goal and one assist. Overall, Dartmouth holds a 10-8-3 record against the Bobcats and hold the advantage in Hanover at 5-3-2. Quinnipiac and Dartmouth skated to a 4-4 tie the last time these two teams faced off in Hanover.
Scouting the Big Green
Dartmouth has completely struggled since opening the season with a 4-2-2 overall record and 4-1-2 in ECAC Hockey play. The Big Green beat Harvard in the season opener before tying Clarkson the following weekend. Since winning 2-0 against Union, Dartmouth is winless in its last 12 games, snapping a 10-game losing streak with a 2-2 tie against St. Lawrence on Jan. 16. The Big Green enter the weekend at 4-13-3 (4-7-3 ECAC Hockey) led by Laura Stacey's 18 points on seven goals and 18 assists. Lindsey Allen, third on the team with 13 points, leads the team with nine goals and Kennedy Ottenbreit is second on the team with eight goals and 15 points. Only four players on the Big Green have six or more goals this season with just three players with double-digit points. Defenseman Eleni Tebano is the leading scorer for the defense with eight points on eight assists. Tess Bracken is the only defenseman with a goal this season. Robyn Chemago has started 17 of the 20 games for the Big Green, posting a 4-11-3 record with a 2.47 GAA and .920 save percentage this season. Dartmouth has average special teams at this point in the season with an 18.6 percent power play (13 for 70) and its penalty kill at 83.3 percent (55 for 66). The Big Green have been outscored in every period this season by at least seven goals but hold a 12-11 advantage in the second period of conference games.

Bobcats in the Polls
For the 16th consecutive week this season, the Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team was ranked in the top 10 of the USCHO.com Division I Women's Poll and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll, ranking fourth for a program record seventh consecutive week. The Bobcats have been ranked in the top 10 of the USCHO.com Poll for 61 consecutive weeks. This week, Quinnipiac is one of two schools in the country to have both its men's and women's ice hockey teams ranked in the top five of both polls, joined by Boston College who's men's team is ranked No. 5 and the women's team is No. 1.
Another Record Bites the Dust
Quinnipiac women's ice hockey continues to reach new heights this season, as the Bobcats extended their program record unbeaten streak to 18 games, the second longest active unbeaten streak in the country. The Bobcats have currently not lost since Oct. 31, 2015. Goaltender Sydney Rossman has been in goal for all 18 games, breaking Chelsea Laden's old program record for unbeaten streak by a goaltender of 15 games.
The View From Above
The Bobcats continue to shine as one of the top defensive teams in country, ranking in the top three of the country in numerous categories. The Bobcats second in the country to Wisconsin for the most shutouts in the country with 11, while the Bobcats' 0.92 GAA is second only to Wisconsin's 0.62. Quinnipiac has also allowed the second fewest goals in the country, yielding just 23 compared to Wisconsin's 16. In terms of shots on goal, the Bobcats have allowed the second fewest shots on goal at 438 and second fewest shots on goal per game at 17.52. Quinnipiac only trails Wisconsin in each of those categories.
Best in the League
Quinnipiac continues to enjoy the view from the top of the ECAC Hockey standings, leading the way with 23 points and lead second place Princeton and Clarkson by a full two wins. Offensively, the Bobcats have the second best offensive behind Clarkson while the Bobcats defense is the top defense in the conference.
I've Got the Power
The Bobcats power play has been on a tear this season with the power play at 24.7 percent after scoring 23 power play goals in 90 opportunities. With eight games to play this season, the Bobcats power play percentage is currently the highest in program history.
C-Inferno
Taylar Cianfarano has been on fire this season as she recorded her fifth three-point game of the season on Wednesday in the 6-1 win over Boston University. Cianfarano scored two goals for her fifth multiple-goal game of the season and was her 14th multiple-point game. Cianfarano leads ECAC Hockey with 22 goals and 39 points this season, one point shy of tying the Quinnipiac program record for points by a sophomore set by Kelly Babstock in 2011-12. Cianfarano's 17 assists are third in the conference.
Winning is Fun
Suiting up for all 25 games this season, Sydney Rossman has shined in her first season as the starter, picking up 20 wins and an 18 game unbeaten streak. Rossman's 20 wins are third in the nation and third all-time in Quinnipiac women's ice hockey single-season program history. Another impressive feat, Rossman has yielded one goal or fewer in 20 games this season resulting in an ECAC Hockey leading 0.91 GAA and .947 save percentage.
Thrice as Nice
Kristen Tamberg is having a career year in her final season as a Quinnipiac Bobcat, exemplified by her single-game career-high three point effort against Boston University. Tamberg picked up two assists in a game for the fourth time in her career while also picking up a goal. Tamberg's 14 points this season are her most in a single season while her two goals are tied for her most in a season and her 12 assists are one shy of her single-season record. Tamberg is the second Bobcat to record three points in a game this season after Taryn Baumgardt did it on Dec. 4, 2015 against Dartmouth.
Cons-tant Contact
It was another game and another point for Nicole Connery as the Bobcats forward picked up her ninth goal of the season and 38th of her career, giving her 88 points. Connery is tied sixth in program history with teammate Nicole Kosta with 38 career goals, as they both search to become the third and fourth players to record 40 or more goals and assists in their careers. Connery is also looking to join Kosta in the 100-point club and becoming the fourth player in program history to achieve the feat. With 14 assists this season, Connery has tied her single-season career-high which she set last season.
Super Samo
Melissa Samoskevich is having a fine freshman season for the Bobcats as she picked up her 11th goal of the season last Wednesday to give her 25 points. Samoskevich's goal was her first since scoring against Brown on Jan. 2 and has recorded points in all but two games during the 2016 calendar year. Samoskevich is currently second on the team in goals and points, tied for third with 14 points. In terms of freshmen, Samoskevich is tied for second in goals, third in assists and third in points.
A Walk in the Woods
Emma Woods tallied her 18th assist of the season to remain on top of the team lead this season, blowing away her previous career-high of 13 assists set last season. Woods has 23 points this season, putting her just two points shy of tying her single-season career of 25 from her freshman season in 2013-14. Woods is second in ECAC Hockey with 18 assists and tied for eighth with 23 points.
Brown Sugar
The list of Bobcats with career highs continues with Nicole Brown, who set a single-season career-high mark of 16 points after an assists against Boston University. Brown's 16 points surpasses the 15 points she recorded last season and in her freshman season of 2012-13. Not only does she has a career-high for points, but Brown's 12 assists are tied for her most in a single-season with last year's total. Brown is tied for fifth on the team in assists and points.
Lookin' West
Lindsey West has had yet another solid year for the Bobcats as she has picked up three goals and five assists after recording her second career two-assist and second career two-point games against the Terriers. West is chasing her career highs of four goals and six assists for 10 points from a season ago. If she reaches 10 points this season, West would be the fourth Bobcats' defensemen to record double-digit points this year.
Don't Hate on 28
Miranda Lantz picked up her fourth career assist against Boston University to add to the Bobcats threatening offense. After moving up to the second line for the first time in her career, Lantz dished out the
Burlington Assist Factory
The Bobcats also got an assist from Emma Greco, her second assist of the season and 10th of her career. With Greco's assist, six Bobcat defensemen have recorded at least two assists this season and all seven defensemen have registered an assist and a point.
The Vermonster
Danielle Marmer also picked up her second assist of the season on Wednesday, her second straight season with two assists after picking up two in the 2014-15 playoffs against Princeton. Marmer previously picked up her first assist of the season against Dartmouth in their 7-1 win on Dec. 4, 2015.
