Men's Ice Hockey Earns NCAA At-Large Bid to Sioux Falls Regional

INDIANAPOLIS — The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey program is dancing again, earning an at-large bid to the 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Championship in the Sioux Falls Regional, where they will meet Hockey East regular season champions Providence.
The game is slated for Thursday, March 26 at 5:00 PM Eastern, live exclusively on ESPN+.
The two teams met in an exhibition contest back on Oct. 5, a game that the Friars took 2-1 at Schneider Arena. The winner will take on the winner of top-seeded North Dakota and Hockey East Champion Merrimack at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Quinnipiac earned its sixth consecutive Cleary Cup as the ECAC's Regular Season Champion by accumulating 51 points over its 22 league contests. Led by Hobey Baker Top 10 Finalist Ethan Wyttenbach and unanimous ECAC First Team All-Conference Selection Elliott Groenewold, the Bobcats are entering their seventh straight NCAA Tournament, the longest active streak in the country.
Overall, the Bobcats featured four All-ECAC selections, Antonin Verreault (Second Team) and Mason Marcellus (Third Team) joining Wyttenbach and Groenewold. Verreault and Wyttenbach were also named to the ECAC All-Rookie Team.
The two teams last met in an NCAA Regional Semifinal in 2014, a 4-0 Friars Win at then-Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Conn. Overall, Providence owns the series 3-2-1 in its six regular-season meetings.
