LAKE PLACID, N.Y. — Ethan Wyttenbach and Elliott Groenewold were among the two Quinnipiac men's ice hockey players who earned major awards for the Bobcats as announced at the annual ECAC Awards banquet on the eve of its Championship Weekend.
Wyttenbach was tabbed the ECAC Rookie of the Year after a historic campaign in a Bobcat uniform that ended with him leading the country in scoring with 58 points. He had 36 points in 22 league games, which led the way amongst league rookies by eight over teammate Antonin Verreault. He also set new Quinnipiac records for most points and assists by a first-year player in a Bobcat uniform.
Groenewold was tabbed the league's Best Defensive Defenseman, presented by Howies Hockey Tape. The Springfield, Vt., native finished the season with a plus-38 rating, the highest by any Bobcat in its Division I era. In league contests, he had a plus-27 mark and blocked 24 shots to anchor the Quinnipiac back line.
Along with the two major awards, Wyttenbach was also selected as a finalist for the 2026 ECAC Player of the Year and head coach Rand Pecknold was a finalist for the 2026 Tim Taylor ECAC Coach of the Year after winning the league's regular season title.
Quinnipiac also took home six All-Conference honors, with Wyttenbach and Groenewold leading the way on the ECAC All-League First Team.
Verreault finished with a spot on the All-ECAC Second Team, finishing with 28 points in 22 league contests, which put him fourth in the conference. He had 12 goals and 16 assists and a plus-17 rating.
Mason Marcellus earned his third consecutive All-ECAC selection, finishing with a place on the Third Team. In 20 league games he had 19 points, with five goals and 14 assists while serving as an assistant captain for the 2025-26 Bobcat squad.
Verreault and Wyttenbach were also tabbed as All-Rookie Selections.
Quinnipiac will learn of its fate in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday at 3 p.m. in a live show aired on ESPNU. Quinnipiac currently ranks at No. 11 in the NCAA Percentage Index (NPI), a major metric used in selecting the tournament field.
