
Women's Ice Hockey Assistant Brent Hill Helps Lead United States to Gold Medal at Winter Olympic Games

MILAN, ITALY – Quinnipiac women's ice hockey assistant coach Brent Hill helped lead the United States to a victory over Canada in the gold medal contest of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Games on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026.
Hill and the U.S. battled to a 2-1 overtime victory over Canada from Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena.
The Bobcats were also represented in the contest by former student-athlete Kati Tabin ('20), who helped Canada earn a silver medal.Hill and the U.S. battled to a 2-1 overtime victory over Canada from Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena.
Tabin is the first student-athlete in Quinnipiac Athletics history to medal in the Winter Olympics. Former Quinnipiac women's rugby standout Ilona Maher ('18) helped lead the United States rugby sevens squad to the team's first-ever medal, defeating Australia 14-12 in the bronze matchup during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

About Assistant Coach Brent Hill – United States
Hill returned to USA Hockey this year as an assistant coach for the 2025 U.S. Women's National Team, which captured the world championship in Czechia with an overtime win over Canada. He served in the same role in 2024 and for the gold medal–winning 2023 U.S. Women's National Team.
Hill has also been on the bench for Team USA in the Rivalry Series since 2023. Last month the U.S. earned decisive wins, defeating Canada 4-1 and 6-1 in games one and two. The series continues Wednesday at Rogers Place in Edmonton with games three and four.
Hill served as an assistant coach for the U.S. U18 Women's National Team at the 2015 IIHF Women's World Championship in Buffalo, N.Y., overseeing the defense and penalty kill. Team USA went on to defeat Canada in the championship game.
Now in his sixth year at Quinnipiac, Hill works primarily with the Bobcats' forwards and leads the program's power play.
About Kati Tabin ('20) – Canada
Tabin played four seasons with the Bobcats from 2016-20, totaling 52 points over 141 games. She earned All-ECAC Third Team honors during her senior season in 2020.
As a first-year student in 2016-17 Tabin skated in 32 games, recording two goals and five assists while finishing with a +9 rating. She followed with 14 points (3 goals, 11 assists) as a sophomore, appearing in all 36 games. The defender played in 36 more games as a junior in 2018-19, recording 13 points and finishing second on the team in blocked shots (49).
Tabin served as Quinnipiac co-captain for the 2019-20 campaign and led the Bobcats' defense with a career-high 18 points, including five goals and 13 assists.
She is currently playing for the Montreal Victoire of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL).
