Four Bobcats Reach Double Figures in Win Over Merrimack

North Andover, Mass. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats earned a hard-fought victory on the road at Merrimack, 75-61, on Monday afternoon in North Andover. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 14-4 overall and 9-0 in MAAC play.
Jackie Grisdale and Karson Martin both had big days, scoring 18 points each in the 14-point win over Merrimack. Grisdale exploded for 12 points in the final quarter on 5-for-8 shooting from the field. Martin finished the first half with 15 points on 6-for-11 shooting from the field. Anna Foley had quite the homecoming, dropping 16 points in 17 minutes off the bench. Sydney Ryan also reached double figures in the win, finishing the day with 14 points on 57% shooting from the floor. Six Bobcats recorded points in the win over the Warriors to help the Bobcats win their ninth straight contest.

GAME REWIND
Merrimack got on the scoreboard first and maintained a slight advantage, 8-7, at the first quarter media timeout. Out of the timeout, Karson Martin knocked down a three-pointer to put the Bobcats in front, and they did not look back from there, forcing Merrimack to call a timeout with 2:53 remaining in the quarter, with a six-point advantage. Out of the break, the Bobcats added to their lead, taking a nine-point lead, 22-13, after the opening frame.
The Bobcats came out strong in the second quarter and continued to control the pace of play, outscoring the Warriors 10-5 in the opening five minutes of the second frame. After the media timeout, the two sides traded points, but a layup from Jackie Grisdale in the final minute gave the Bobcats the 16-point lead at the half.
Sydney Ryan got the Bobcats going again in the second half, drilling a three-pointer in their first possession of the quarter. The Warriors would respond with a 14-7 scoring run to make it a twelve-point game at the media timeout. Merrimack continued with a 6-0 run out of the timeout to force the Bobcats to call a timeout of their own. The Bobcats would score four of the next six points to take a 55-47 lead into the final quarter.
Quinnipiac came out firing in the final frame, starting on a 10-2 scoring run, which was capped off by a corner three from Jackie Grisdale.
Out of the timeout, the Bobcats put the game out of reach as Karson Martin had a tough finish as she got fouled to give her the and-one opportunity to put the Bobcats up 18.
Merrimack scored the final four points of the contest, but it wasn't enough as the Bobcats defeated the Warriors by fourteen to improve to 9-0 in MAAC play.
