QU Strikes For 14 Runs In Win Over Jaspers

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac baseball team took game two of the three-game series against the Manhattan Jaspers with a 14-8 win on Saturday afternoon in New York.
With the win, the Bobcats will improve to 16-22 overall and 7-7 in MAAC play, while the Jaspers will fall to 13-27 overall and 6-11 in conference play with the loss

HOW IT HAPPENED
Quinnipiac kicked off the game with a bang, scoring six runs in the top of the first inning. Keegan O'Connor kicked off the scoring with a two-run home run to left field. Matt DeRosa followed up with an RBI double to left field to score CJ Willis. Julian Buchman singled to right center to bring home two more runs. Dominick Proctor scored on a wild pitch to bring in the sixth run of the inning.
The Jaspers responded right away with six runs in the bottom of the first inning. The bottom of the first inning was capped off with a three-run homer to even the game at six. Manhattan would add a run in the bottom of the second inning to take a 7-6 lead.
CJ Willis tied the game at seven with an RBI double to right center to score Keegan O'Connor. In the top of the sixth inning, the Bobcats struck for four runs. Willis struck again with an RBI single to score Jared Zimbardo and take the lead. Later in the inning, Willis came home on a wild pitch to make it a 9-7 game. Matt DeRosa reached on an error to bring home Gabe Wright and Kyla Garbowski capped off the scoring in the inning with an RBI single to right field.
The Bobcats entered the ninth inning with an 11-7 lead before the struck for three runs to extend their lead to 14-7. Kyle Garbowski scored on an error with Julian Buchman at the plate before Keegan O'Connor flew out to left field to bring home Buchman. Christian Smith struck for a solo home run to make it a 14-7 game heading into the bottom of the ninth.
Manhattan got one run in the ninth inning from a sacrifice fly before the Bobcats held on for a 14-8 win to even the series at one game apiece.
