Bobcats Fall To Niagara Despite 30 Points From Sollenne

RA FALLS, N.Y. – First year Ava Sollenne had a career day, scoring 30 points and picking up six rebounds, but the Bobcats fall to the Niagara Purple Eagles in overtime by a score of 86-78 on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Bobcats will fall to 7-9 on the season and 4-3 in the MAAC, while Niagara will improve to 7-11 and 4-4 in conference play. The win is Niagara's fourth in a row against the Bobcats.
Quinnipiac jumped out to an early eight-point lead heading into the first media timeout. Ava Sollenne scored five of the Bobcats' first 11 points.
Niagara would claw back and make it a 15-15 ballgame at the end of the first quarter.
After the two teams traded free-throws, Bri Bowen knocked down a tough layup to put the Bobcats up three and force Niagara to take a timeout.
Out of the break, the Bobcats would extend their lead and go into halftime with a nine-point lead. Ava Sollenne led the Bobcats with 10 points at the half.
Niagara would come out of the locker room and cut the Bobcats' lead to six at the media timeout. After some back-and-forth scoring, Niagara would tie the game before Sollenne knocked down two free throws to end the quarter.
The Bobcats would come out in the final frame and extended their lead to 11 on a triple from Karson Martin.
The teams traded baskets and the Bobcats held a seven-point lead at the media timeout. Niagara would fight back to tie the game with 31 seconds left and force this one into overtime.
Overtime was all Niagara, as they established a lead and never looked back, defeating the Bobcats 86-78.
