#6/6 Bobcats Meet Syracuse in NCAA Regional Semifinal Game on Thursday

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The No. 7/7 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team is set to make its third NCAA Tournament appearance in program history this week as the Bobcats will travel to No. 1 Ohio State for the Columbus Regional. The Bobcats will play the Syracuse Orange on Thursday, March 10, and the winner will take on the Buckeyes on Saturday, March 12.
Last Time Out
The Bobcats met the Colgate Raiders in the ECAC Hockey semifinal game on March 4 and lost, 2-3. The Bobcats got on the board first with a power play goal scored by Sadie Peart in the second period. Colgate later tied the game in the second with a goal from Eleri Mackay. The Bobcats came out in the third period and scored the team's second goal of the game to take a 2-1 lead. Ann-Frédérik Naud skated up the ice and tried to pass a Raider with the puck right in the crease. Olivia Mobley picked up the deflection and buried it home past Colgate's Hannah Murphy. The Raiders added two more goals to take a 3-2 lead and would hold on to win.
Scouting Syracuse
The 'Cuse hold a 15-10-6 overall record after winning the CHA championship over Mercyhurst on Feb. 26 in a 3-2 overtime victory. This season, the Orange has recorded an average of 2.7 goals per game, while allowing 2.5 against. The Orange are averaging 7.4 penalty minutes per game and have converted 22 times out of 116 chances on the power play (19%).
Abby Moloughney leads the Orange with 32 points this season on 17 goals and 15 assists. Nine skaters on Syracuse have recorded double-digit points this season. Arielle DeSmet has played in 26 games in the net, making 24 starts this season for the Orange. She has tallied a 1.99 goals against average with a .937 save percentage. She is 13-7-5 on the season with two shutouts.
All-Time vs the Orange
The Bobcats have tallied a 5-3 record against the Orange all time. The last time the Bobcats and Orange met was Oct. 20, 2012.
NCAA Tournament History
Quinnipiac is set to make its third NCAA Tournament appearance and first since the 2015-16 season. The last time the Bobcats were in the NCAA Tournament came after the team won the ECAC Hockey Championship in a 1-0 win over Clarkson on March 6, 2016. Quinnipiac hosted the Golden Knights the following week in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament and lost 1-0. In 2014-15, Quinnipiac traveled to Harvard in the NCAA Tournament and lost 5-0.
ECAC Hockey Honors
Kendall Cooper and Zoe Boyd both received ECAC Hockey honors at the conclusion of the regular season. Cooper was named a finalist for Best Defenseman and named a member of the Second-Team All-League. Boyd was named to the Third-Team All-League.
Historic Quarterfinal
The Bobcats took down Clarkson in the ECAC Hockey quarterfinal, outscoring the Golden Knights, 9-1 through two games. This was the team's first quarterfinal series sweep since 2015-16 when the Bobcats defeated St. Lawrence twice in the quarterfinals. It was also the first time the team shutout Clarkson in any game since 2015-16 in the ECAC Championship game when Quinnipiac won 1-0. Both the 5-1 and 4-0 victories were the highest margins of victory against Clarkson in program history.
Unstoppable in the Face-off Circle
The Bobcats have consistently been a great faceoff team. Against Colgate last weekend, the Bobcats won 34 of 57 faceoffs (60%), and senior Lexie Adzija led the team with 13 individual wins and nine losses.
Adzija the All-Star
Lexie Adzija was awarded the prestigious Mandi Schwartz Student-Athlete of the Year award on Saturday, Feb. 19 after the conclusion of the regular season. She is ranked third on the team with 26 points on seven goals and 19 assists. Adzija is the fourth Bobcat to win the award; Kenzie Lancaster '19, Kristen Tamberg '16 and Chelsea Laden '15 also won.
Out of the Box
Quinnipiac is averaging just 4.86 penalty minutes per game, which is the fourth lowest in the country. Syracuse is ranked 19th in the country, averaging 7.35 minutes per game.

The Bobcats are ranked seventh in the nation with 188 assists this season. In addition, Quinnipiac is ranked third in scoring defense, averaging 1.49 goals against per game, which is also tied with Ohio State. In addition, the Bobcats finished the regular season with the best scoring defense in conference play with 1.41 goals against per game. The team's 1.41 scoring defense is the fourth best in the program's history. With help from stellar goaltending from Corinne Schroeder and Logan Angers, the Bobcats are ranked third in the nation with nine team shutouts.
Schroeder on Fire
Graduate student Corinne Schroder was named a finalist for the 2022 Women's Goalie of the Year award. Against Clarkson, Schroeder made 75 saves total to lead the Bobcats in two historic victories over the Golden Knights in the ECAC Hockey quarterfinal games. She is ranked sixth in the country with a 1.42 goals against average and third with a .950 save percentage. Her 4-0 shutout victory over Clarkson was her fifth shutout this season.
Point Picture
The Bobcats have six skaters with over 20 points this season, and Sadie Peart and Olivia Mobley lead the team with a career-high 31 points each. Lexie Adzija is third on the team with 26 points, which is three off from tying her career high. In the sophomore class, Kendall Cooper, Nina Steigauf, Sophie Urban, Maddy Samoskevich and Mobley have all recorded career-high point totals. Taylor House also has notched a career-high 24 points on 14 goals and 10 assists.
On the Board
Peart, Mobley and Steigauf have all tallied four game-winning goals each. As a team, Quinnipiac has scored 114 goals this season, which ranks eighth in the country. Adzija leads the team with a +27 on-ice rating.
Special Teams
Quinnipiac has scored seven power play goals in the last eight games and is 14-1 this season when scoring at least one power play goal in a game. Mobley and Peart lead the team with four power play goals each this season. On the penalty kill, the Bobcats have allowed just three power play goals since Jan. 1, 2022. In the ECAC play, Quinnipiac finished first in the conference with an 89.1 penalty kill percentage. The Bobcats went through the entirety of the ECAC Hockey Tournament without allowing a power play goal against.
