Bobcats Fall Short in Season-Opener at Saint Joseph's

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. – Sophomore Sebastian Mueller led the Bobcats' offense with two RBIs, as the Quinnipiac baseball team fell to Saint Joseph's in the 2022 season-opener on the road, 13-3, on Friday afternoon on Smithson Field.
Gianni Arici added a hit and an RBI as well, as the Bobcats fell to 0-1 on the season, while the Hawks improved to 1-0 with the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Saint Joseph's struck first for a run in the first off a passed ball and proceeded to tack on two more runs in the third via passed balls to push ahead 3-0. The Bobcats responded with a run of their own behind an RBI single from Arici to score Keegan O'Connor to cut the deficit to 3-1 in the fourth.
However, the Hawks posted five runs apiece in the sixth and seventh innings to take a commanding 13-1 lead. Sebastian Mueller was able to muster a two-run single to left in the top of the ninth, but it wasn't enough as the Bobcats fell short, 13-3.
