Baseball Scores 17 Runs in Doubleheader Split with Saints Friday
Quinnipiac snapped a seven-game losing streak with its win in Game Two as the bats came alive.
After scoring six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning of game one's doubleheader, trying to come back from a 10-0 deficit to the Saints, the Bobcats torched Siena for 11 runs in the second game.
Marrero set the tone early with a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the first inning before the floodgates opened in the second. Two runs scored on a Dylan Lutz (Denver, Colorado) infield single before Lutz came around to score on a Marrero single and centerfielder fielder error.
Ostberg then brought Marrero home to score on a single to right field and Colton Bender (Lebanon, Connecticut) drove home Ostberg with a double off the centerfield wall.
Marrero singled and Danny Melnick (Hamilton, New Jersey) came around to score on a throwing error from the centerfielder before Ostberg launched a home run deep to right field to make it a 10-0 game in game two.
Michael Kohn (Rockville, Maryland) finished the game in the bottom of the eighth inning when he came home to score on a wild pitch.
Both Quinnipiac starters had excellent starts in Friday's doubleheader, highlighted by Kevin Seitter (Ridgewood, New Jersey) pitching a career-high seven innings and striking out 11 batters. He did not allow a hit until there were two outs in the fifth inning, and allowed just one run on three hits in the entire game.
Brandyn Garcia (Granby, Connecticut) struck out nine batters in game one for the Bobcats in five innings of work, but took the loss allowing four runs on eight hits.
