HAMDEN, Conn. – Riding a three-game winning streak, the Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team travels south to take on the Monmouth Hawks for a two-game series. Friday's game is scheduled for 3 p.m. while Sunday's game is slated for a 1 p.m. start. Both games can be seen live on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bobcats continued its homestand with two games against Iona. In Friday's matchup with the Gaels, Quinnipiac came away with the victory, 15-14, in double overtime. The Bobcats tied the game with just under three minutes remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime. Desiree Kleberg scored with 24 seconds remaining in the first half of double overtime to give Quinnipiac the victory. Junior midfielder Gabby Beckett led the Bobcat offense, matching her career high with five points on the afternoon, finding the back of the net twice and dishing out three assists. Sophomore midfielder Sophia Iaccino grabbed a career-high eight draw controls in the win. In Sunday's game, Quinnipiac completed the sweep, winning, 19-15. The Bobcats used a 5-0 run in the first half to take control of the game. Iona got out to an early 3-1 advantage, but the Bobcats battled back, taking an 11-7 lead into halftime. Both teams scored eight goals in the second half in the Quinnipiac victory. Graduate student Megan Szawlowski led the Bobcats offensively as she tied her career high with six points. The Holyoke, Mass. native scored three goals and matched her career high with three assists. Junior Maddie Deegan and sophomore Sophia Iaccino each found the back of the net four times. Iaccino also added an assist to give her five points on the day for the Bobcats. Defensively, first year Julia Steneck picked up three ground balls. Four other Bobcats picked up two ground balls apiece. Sophomore goalkeeper Kat Henselder made a career-high 15 saves in her third victory between the pipes this season.
SCOUTING MONMOUTH
The MAAC Preseason favorites currently sit at 2-2 in their 2021 campaign. In the Hawks most recent game, they fell to Canisius, 16-15 in overtime. Fifth year attack Nicole Ceraso was named MAAC Player of the Week and fifth year goalkeeper Stephanie Delliturri was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week on March 17. Ceraso leads the Hawks offensively with 22 points on nine goals and 13 assists. Delliturri has made 38 saves and allowed 39 goals in the first four games of the season. She has a .494 save percentage for the Hawks.
ALL-TIME VS. MONMOUTH
The Bobcats are 5-18 all-time against the Hawks. The two teams last matchup was on April 20, 2019 as the Hawks came away with a 19-12 victory in Hamden.
CAREER DAYS
In the weekend series vs. Iona, multiple Bobcats recorded career days. In Friday's matchup, Gabby Beckett matched her career high with five points. Sophia Iaccino recorded a career-high eight draw controls in the double overtime win. First year Kalie Moore tallied the first two points of her career, scoring a goal and dishing out an assist on Friday. On Sunday, Megan Szawlowski tied her career highs in points with six and assists with three. Sophia Iaccino scored a career-high four goals and sophomore goalkeeper stopped a career-high 15 shots between the pipes for the Bobcats.

Sophomore midfielder Sophia Iaccino is near the top of the MAAC in multiple stat categories. The Farmingdale, N.Y. native is second with 3.67 ground balls per game, fourth with 2.33 caused turnovers per game and second with five draw controls per game.
THE BOBCATS IN 2020
In a pandemic-shortened 2020 season, Quinnipiac posted a record of 3-4. The Bobcats tallied wins against LIU, Bryant and Old Dominion. The win against ODU was the program's first win against a BIG EAST foe.

FIFTH YEAR UNDER KOTOWICZ
Head Coach Tanya Kotowicz enters her fifth season at the helm of the Bobcats. Under Kotowicz, the Bobcats have brought in two straight first year classes that have made an immediate impact. In 2020, midfielders Desiree Kleberg and Sophia Iaccino both earned MAAC Rookie of the Week honors. Kleberg earned the award twice while Iaccino earned the award once. In 2019, the Bobcats had two MAAC All-Rookie Team selections as midfielders Gabby Beckett and Maddie Deegan were given the honor. Since Kotowicz's first season in 2017, the Bobcats have improved every season in total and conference wins, including one birth in the MAAC tournament.
THE RETURN OF SWAZ
Graduate attack Megan Szawlowski returns in 2021 for the Bobcats. She was Quinnipiac's leading scorer from a season ago, recording 21 points from 17 goals and four assists. In her two-plus seasons with the Bobcats, the Holyoke, Mass. native has 60 goals and 21 assists.
MIDFIELD MASTERCLASS
Nine of the 10 returning top scorers for the Bobcats all come from the midfield position. Juniors Gabby Beckett and Maddie Deegan were named to the 2019 MAAC All-Rookie Team. The pair of them recorded 25 combined points one season ago. Sophomores Desiree Kleberg and Sophia Iaccino both earned MAAC Rookie of the Week honors a season ago. Kleberg and Iaccino combined for 23 points in 2019.
NEWCOMERS, WELCOME TO HAMDEN
The Bobcats welcome seven new faces to the squad for the 2021 season. Transfer Annie Morrison and first years Julia Steneck, Chelsea Akins, Kelly Bergersen, Maddie Noel, Kalie Moore and Hadley Bosworth are all entering their first season's as Bobcats.
