Bobcats Coming Off Tournament Win on Monday
HAMDEN, Conn. – After winning its season-opening tournament, the Quinnipiac women's golf team returns to action at the Hartford/Wintonbury Invitational on Friday. The invitational is being hosted at the White Course at Wintonbury Hills Golf Course.

SEASON-OPENING WIN – Full Release
- Leeyen Peralta posted an even-par 72 to earn a first-place finish at Monday's Hartford/Blackledge Invitational at Blackledge CC in Hebron, Conn. Quinnipiac earned first place in the event with a team score of 314 (+26).
- Captain Elena Ybarra, Darby Lillibridge (individual golfer) and Mia Grzywinski all placed inside the top 15 on the day.
- Sophomore Leeyen Peralta was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week for her performance at the Hartford/Blackledge Invitational, as announced by the league office on Thursday, March 25
- Peralta posted an even-par 72 to earn a first-place finish at Monday's event at Blackledge CC in Hebron, Conn. The Brea, California native birdied four holes and played her first ten holes of the day at -3. This is the second weekly award recognition that Peralta has earned in her young career.
- The Quinnipiac women's golf team has been picked to finish second in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference on Monday, Feb. 22.
- Albany narrowly edged out the Bobcats for first place, receiving 75 total points and five first-place votes. Quinnipiac received 73 total points and two first-place votes. Dayton and Hartford came in at third and fourth place respectively, each collecting one first-place vote.
- Quinnipiac women's golf head coach John O'Connor has announced the team's captains for the 2020-21 season. Senior Elena Ybarra and junior Elena Lopez have been selected as the captains for the program.
- "Elena Ybarra has been a major contributor to the golf program for the past three years and has developed into a leader that the team looks up to," O'Connor said. "Elena Lopez is an inspiration to the team by her drive and focus both on the course and in the classroom. Elena's attention to detail is shown through her improving by 3 strokes from her freshman to sophomore year."
- Quinnipiac women's golf head coach John O'Connor has announced the schedule for the Bobcats' 2021 season. Quinnipiac will compete in a number of match play events, as well as two tournaments. The season culminates with the MAAC Championships on April 23-25.
- "We're all looking forward to getting back out there to compete again," O'Connor said. "We greatly appreciate the opportunity the university and athletic department have given us to do what we love to do. I expect the team to be a little rusty but I know we will be prepared for conference by the end of April."
